Shahid gets seriously injured in an accident before he is able to reach his house with his bride Rabiya. In hospital, Rabiya tells Dr. Arshad that she belongs to a nomadic tribe and met Shahid when he came to Kashmir with his friends.
Shahid takes his sick friend Amit to a clinic, where Fatima has brought her son Aameen. He gets another opportunity to meet Rabiya at her place. But he gets shocked when Rabiya tells him that she is totally illiterate.
Shahid buys some books for Aameen and Rabiya, and starts teaching them. Fatima overhears romantic conversation between Rabiya and Shahid. She warns Rabiya about consequences of this unprecedented relationship.
More children of the tribe become Shahid's students. Fatima shocks Shahid with the revelation that Rabiya is her daughter-in-law and not daughter. Shahid gets frustrated and returns to his home at Delhi.
Shahid's father comes to know what had happened. He motivates his son to verify the truth of what he had been told. Gulrez Khan's tribe has started its movement to higher altitude, but Shahid follows the route and locates it.
Rabiya reveals to Shahid that she had become an orphan and a widow even before moving to her in-laws. Shahid decides to move with the tribe and educate its children. Fatima's rebukes fail to make him change his decision.
With consent of the elders, Gulrez Khan allows Shahid to stay with the tribe and teach their children. Ironically Shahid is made to live with his arch opponent Fateh Khan. Shahid gradually wins Fateh Khan's heart with his humility.
Fatima tells Shahid that Rabiya is in fact daughter of a person from Delhi who had deserted her mother. When Gulrez Khan comes to know about Shahid's love for Rabiya, he beats Shahid. Fateh Khan tries to pacify Gulrez Khan.
Fateh Khan convinces Gulrez Khan for Rabiya's marriage with Shahid. Shahid informs his grandmother, but the conservative lady doesn't tell Shahid's father. Fateh Khan performs the rituals instead of bridegroom's parents.
Shahid dies in an accident at Delhi. His father takes Rabiya to his house. Gulrez and Fatima reach there but Rabiya has already left due to misconduct of Shahid's grandmother. Rabiya meets an accident.
