This movies premise is very old and kinda been done a lot of times already.
It is one of the more boring ones, I found my self not really watching it but rather just letting it wash over me. There was nothing to grasp onto.
Then I realised that the dialogue was terrible. It was so unfunny and bad. The delivery of the lines was also not great but I do wonder if they were like "I can't believe they are making me say this".
The plot is also paper thin and at times I think got bored of it's self as it kinda wanders off and does irrelevant things then hopes back to what it was meant to be focusing on.
I read that this movie has been in development since 2009 that is a long time ago, 11 years. I think it shows as it isn't anything fresh unfortunately and I really like most of the leads.

I'm not sure what the huge number of complaints are about, this is exactly as advertised and hardly the dumpster fire it's being panned as.
Chick flick, buddy, rom-com with a decent cast and light story. Is this some Oscar worthy masterpiece? No. Is it a fun watch to distract you from the actual nightmare that is 2020? Yes, yes it is.

I'll start by stating my 2 star rating is only due to loving most of the actors in the film. I would have thought this combination would have gone off much better than it did.
The storyline is painfully erratic, with nothing to really grab on to. Instead of enjoying the experience you'll kind of just waste time watching something without taking anything from it to remember. In other words, it's a total waste of an hour and a half of your life that you'll never get back - and that's saying a lot while most of us are stuck at home in quarantine with too much free time.
It's a shame they brought together this great group and missed the mark entirely on a story of any sort.
Also, what's with the uncomfortable child/ adult live connection joke? It was cringeworthy at the first sentence and they kept it going throughout a decent length of the film. I don't know how this script ever got the green light.
If you're looking for a great Netflix comedy, this isn't it. It's not even decent. Instead , I recommend you watch Eurovision Song Contest: the story of Fire Saga - it'll bring you laughs and even some tears of joy.

If you watched the preview then you should know the movie you are watching... it's not expected to be a work of art.
I turned this in because I love Nasim Pedrad. The trailer looked funny. But it was absolutely awful. There were a couple funny moments, but most of jokes were not funny and completely gross. The plot was painful and ridiculous.

In my opinion, romantic comedies by their very nature can only be so good. The plots are formulaic and rarely take anyone by surprise.
That being said, this was a solid romcom. I think its better the the 5/10 stars it's gotten, and it did have a better b-story dynamic than most. If you like a fun romcom now and then, worth the watch.

Congratulations, this movie was so bad it actually moved me to write a review.
Desperadoes was a train wreck from start to cgi dolphin dong and then went downhill from there. Whichever scriptwriter came up with this needs to go on strike again and I truly hope none of those involved (and to be clear, I previously liked all three of the 'recognisable' faces in this) ever live it down.
Early and guaranteed winner of the Worst Movie of the 21st century.

She really tries! This movie has heart, and is a rom com that really tries. It is well shot, technically proficient in sight and sound and even the outfits are kinda cute so I gave it a six and wondered if it should be a seven. I'd rather watch a decent rom com than one of those bloody zombies flicks. Anyday. Does anyone wonder why there's violence on the streets?

Not completely awful, a few humorous scenes and good cinematography, but on the whole unfunny. The jokes land painfully flat, leaving this movie very one note and lacking purpose. The storyline is very cliche and the main characters have no chemistry.

Seriously,, just dont waste your time watching this, i usually can bear a pathetic movie by doing a fast forward but this just broke my patience on all levels.. Do something unproductive or stupid to pass your time rather wasting it by watching this! You'll thank me later.

2020 is just so sad for so many people and this movie didn't help uplift the those who subscribed in Netflix during lockdown.

Fun, honest and really good entertainment. Better than I expected. I only read the reviews afterwards and I was really surprised how bad they were. If I read the reviews before, I would have probably not watched the movie. Which would have been a loss. If you watch the trailer, you know in which direction the movie is going. So why are you reviewers disappointed that it was exactly what it showed? If you want something deep and informative, watch a documentary. But don't watch a comedy and then be disappointed that it was exactly that: a comedy. BTW: I especially loved the friendship aspect.
This is nothing we all haven't seen before, but during these pandemic times, sitting back, relaxing and allowing our brain to mellow, is just what the doctor ordered. Add some friends, weed and alcohol, and it's a better time.
The casting and performances were decent, although some of the actors tried too hard in certain scenes to the point it felt forced. Although the pacing was decent, the 105 min runtime felt longer. Some editing/cutting would've gone a long way. The story was pretty much infantile, with some cringeworthy jokes that didn't work, but the ones that did, you will howl in laughter. Yes, it is predictable, but with the nice Mexican landscape and some off the wall comedy, it's a good mental break.
It certainly is underserving of all the 1/10 by the wannabe critics. It's a generous 6/10 from me.

But it's close. Even some decent actors couldn't save one of the worst scripts ever written. Everything fell flat. There were times the actors mumbled their line and I'm convinced it's because they were embarrassed.
I expected this to be a stupid comedy that I'd think wasn't great but entertaining. Some seem to want to make the bad reviews about people being easily offended or expecting greatness. Nah, it just really sucks.

This is a nice comedy about a girl who tries to go back to her normal life. She is trying to find a job and find a person who loves her. She finds her guy, but there is a roadblock in her relationship. I liked the story. Most of the story is happening in Mexico. I enjoyed watching those beautiful scenes from Mexico. I enjoyed watching the acting of Nasim Pedrad, Anna Camp, Sarah Burns, and Lamorne Morris. I liked the background music and sound effects. I think showing the digital contents (like text or email) on the scene, could be improved. I know this element is part of the movies in this era, but, to me, we should find a better way of showing these contents to the audience. In summary, I recommend this movie to comedy fans especially the adventurous ones.

Why does Netflix keep making movies like this? Lamorne Morris is charming but the rest of the movie was painful to watch.
A crazy romantic comedy.
It is about a thirty-something who is desperate to find a boyfriend and gets a certain one blindly, but things go wrong and she meets the boy of her dreams and pretends to be something that is not unleashing various conflicts.
Predictable like all of its kind.
Filled with awkward sexual jokes and a few rises.
He talks about the importance of the green friendships that are always there and the importance of women by no verse as "spinsters".
It also talks about always being yourself and letting others know you for who you are and love you as is.
Recorded part of the film in Mexico.

It was a good comedy film. Was it a masterliece? No! However, I enjoyed it & it made me laugh.... I have no idea why people are giving this movie so low ratings!

Desperados (3 out of 5 stars).
Desperados is a fair romantic comedy film about a young girl who is trying to find true. When she thinks she found the perfect guy and gets mad thinking he ghosted her. So she writes a nasty email to him until he calls her saying he was involved in an accident in Mexico. Her and her friends plan a trip to mexico to sneak into his hotel to delete the email.
It was a decent plot with some sub plots about friendships. Which was a fun and charming story. Can be a little predictable half way through the movie. The cast is fun and lovable. It does have a few laughs and humor.

It is dull with an uninspired story line, questionable acting and an ending you can predict in the first 10 minutes.

Bad movie, bad acting, awful plot.... it's like the main actress wrote this film herself so she can star in it. I gave it an extra star for the guy who plays Sean cause I liked him in new girl. Anyways the movie was not worth watching.
