The first official full trailer for Athar Jiddo Uncover a mystery hidden in a distant desert About Athar JIddo: Athar Jiddo is an embodied exploration of inherited memory. Aya returns to the abandoned Al Jafr prison in the desert of Jordan, where her grandfather was held for 3 years, along with many other political prisoners held without trial. Armed only with letters between her grandfather (Jiddo) and her grandmother (Teta) written in the late 50s and early 60s, she excavates and retraces his footsteps within the confines of the prison, and discovers where and how his memories exist in her body. As his history is revealed she grapples with how his indignant voice, though stifled, echoes within her own. The ghosts of the prison reverberate through her body, as she comes face to face with a grandfather she never met, and memories she never knew she had. Through reading the exchange of letters, Aya observes their expression of resilience and unconditional love; with confessions of fear, trauma, and fatigue. Though the prison lies in an empty desert, it becomes clear that it never existed in a vacuum in time or space. The years her grandfather spent fighting for freedom, escaping a death sentence in Syria, house arrest, and eventually, assassination in Iraq took their toll on her grandmothers bones. Her grandmother, who could never bring herself to see the prison, is finally witnessing it behind Ayas eyes. All while Jiddo sprints through her veins, growing restless of the prisons constrictions on his body and mind. Athar Jiddo is produced by Aya Razzaz and Rashad Anabtawi. Omar Razzaz and Rashad Anabtawi served as executive producers.
