The mostly auto-biographical film recounts the real evening when Mary Jane Strand (the writer of this screenplay) survived a night with Ted Bundy. He was using the alias Chris Hagan, but his easily identifiable VW Bug revealed his true identity to Mary Jane years later during a documentary about the serial killer.
