  • Although Makon did not study much, the lessons that life has taught her are now the basis of her existence. It has inspired her in overcoming hardships and has enabled her to bear all pain. She has learn that life is a school in itself, which provides all the answers one seeks. Her little world comprises her husband Jadhav, a boy and a girl who are nine-ten year old. A cycle rickshaw puller, Jadhav earns barely enough to support his family. Makon runs a small shop along the footpath. Besides fulfilling their responsibilities towards their household they manage to send their children to a government school. They have greater aspirations for their children. Makon had been forced to abandon her studies due to her family's poverty. But she wishes to see her children well-educated, thereby fulfilling her unrealized wishes. During monsoons, a single heavy spell of rain leaves the streets and bye lanes of Guwahati water-logged. Soon enough, traffic comes to a standstill and people are confined indoors. In such circumstances, the cycle rickshaws are the only means of transport available. As their demands increase, people like Jadhav end up making the most of the situation as they can charge commuters any fare they want. Therefore Jadhav does not really mind the heavy rain during monsoons. But one day, the strong currents of an artificial flood caused by such a heavy downpour swept his son into an open manhole. The loss of their dear son's life left Makon's family in utter sorrow, desolation and despair. Their dreams and wishes were shattered forever. Everything just fell apart. Makon's household is now reduced to three surviving family members. But then, it is impossible for them to survive by carrying this grief in their hearts. As days went by, they went about their lives with the belief "Work is Workship".
