Patricia Delso Lucas did a phenomenal job writing, directing, and producing this film. Al Nazemian gives a tremendous performance as Oscar, eliciting sympathy through his commanding portrayal. His expressive eyes convey emotion without speaking. Riggsby Lane delivers a great performance, holding his own against Al Nazemian. Lane brings talent to the simple role of a gardener, working well with Al Nazemian. Riggsby Lane plays Jude very well. Tom Bourgeois composed magnificent music for this short film. Dominika Podczaska is a wonderful Cinematographer. Laura Lahera delivers a great performance as the ghost of Oscar's mom.
For I Am Dead is a high quality movie which is well directed and has very strong performances, Al Nazemian as Oscar gives a deep performance that stays with you after you leave the theater. What really captured my attention was the duality in the characters. It is almost like watching two different film in one, Al Nazemian captured both the lightness in the beginning and the extreme depth of his character in the end with just use of eyes. The movie stays with me days after I left the theater.
A beautiful film, beautifully made. Elegant and enigmatic, like a piece of modern art or impressionism, the film leaves itself open for interpretation and discussion. The story is told with simplicity and nuance, unfolds with unexpected choices, and--by touching on themes of self-acceptance, self-loathing, and personal truth--it speaks to the human condition in ways that go beyond the specifics of this particular story, ensuring that its message is universal, relevant, and timeless. All first rate stuff from the writer-director, cast, and the entire creative team -- editing, lighting, set design, makeup, music, and cinematography.
This film is a masterpiece. Al Nazemian's performance as Oscar lends life to the mysterious nature of desire. Nazemian's depiction of the torments of last love is one of the strongest performances in contemporary film. He deserves the highest commendations and the greatest awards for acting. The cinematography and score also function in perfect harmony with the plot, making this film a must-see.
I highly recommend For I Am Dead to anyone who is interested in an intoxicating story with great performances that continue to live with you after the final credits have rolled.
Ten out of ten stars.

I just watched For I Am Dead and am blown away. Al Nazemian's performance as Oscar is riveting, and it was a privilege to be inside his experience and imagination. His performance is so nuanced and subtle and the whole production is breathtaking. The entire cast gives vivid performances and everyone behind the camera achieves lasting and memorable impressions: the smoke, the light, the costumes, the score, and in all this the frailty and the strength of what is human. The writer-director Patricia Delso Lucas creates moving art. It felt like I was watching truth. The film is a powerfully honest and haunting portrait of a character. In many ways, we're all dead inside and, just maybe, this glimpse into Oscar's soul, on display in all its complexity and depth, can bring us back to life.
