A gay Civil War soldier's near-death experience leads to divine intervention, transforming him into an immortal guardian angel who travels across time helping others find their way.
In an homage to the original "Quantum Leap" and "Touched by an Angel" -- with a Biblical spin, the titular character is a gay Civil War soldier, mortally wounded on the battlefield (in the pilot) and is saved for immortality by God himself. In turn, Gabe becomes a guardian angel, moving through past and present, to save souls (both gay and straight).—Bruce Reisman
