Cheap bad imitation movie probably doesn't want you to know that its a ripoff of better things. Not inspired but a bad ripoff with no originality. Misleading poster and movie trailer might have you believing you'll watch something else but even if you have watched the movie trailer you can already tell that it looks like a PS2 game with it's visuals and sounds like a PS1 game with it's bad acting. If you want a cheap scifi movie to watch for some reason then I'm sure you can find it somewhere but not here. IF you want a cheap scifi movie that delivers nothing but boredom bad writing and laughing when not supposed to be funny then watch Andromeda.
Literally like a university student module short, but like 8 modules worth sewn together. The opening scene of crude sound design with zero weight and freezer ice block sprayed silver and glued to the space suits really sets the bar low for whole movie, am dram low. Dialog is 90% explaining things that any writer with any talent would have conveyed to the viewer not using words.
7 caracters in the cast pretty sure i only saw 6.
Relies heavily on mid 2000 graphic visual parts which tbf arn't out of place with the budget quite jarring with the incredibley poor set choices, like the guys office literally a back lit office blind casting a shadow over him but badly aligned, like an amdram scenery.

The story is very interesting at the beginning, and the concept is creative. However, the acting was really bad and the lines were very justify which made this movie a below average sci-fi. It had a lot of potential with the concept of traveling in your mind and inside a different reality and universe. It really could've been an interesting story about how far or how real the other reality can be and raise a question of whether we are in one or the other reality. The acting was really terrible. His therapist clearly had no acting skills at all and is completely unbelievable as a therapist. The story was also incomplete. The boss mentioned about the Russians, trying to beat Americans and there was no follow up on that part of the story. Overall, it's a story with with a lot of potential but everything about this movie ruined it and they didn't bother to make the story more interesting which could've been done easily.
Now, given my general lack of interest in sci-fi movies, then I don't have to say that this 2022 movie from writer and director Brett Bentman was a movie that had fully eluded my attention. Well, right up to now in 2024, as I happened to stumble upon it by random chance. And yeah, I opted to sit down and watch it, despite never having heard about it, much less knowing what I was getting myself into here.
The storyline told in "Andromeda" was pretty far fetched, and it failed to entertain me. In fact, I actually fell asleep two or three times along the 79 minutes that the movie dragged on for. But I am sure that diehard sci-fi fans will enjoy this movie a lot more than I did.
The movie has a small cast ensemble, none of which that I were familiar with. The acting performances in the movie were actually fair, I will say that much.
Visually then "Andromeda" was actually better than I had expected, given the movie's dubious cover.
"Andromeda" failed to entertain me, and it is not a movie that will ever find its way back on my screen a second time. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend you to rush out and get to waste your time, money or effort on.
My rating of writer and director Brett Bentman's 2022 movie "Andromeda" lands on a two out of ten stars.

Have you ever had a really cheap, really well done steak? And maybe you had some powdered mash potatoes and freezer burnt veggies? It's like... still a meal... that could've been OK, but it just doesn't work out.
Much like the meal above this movie just didn't work out. There's this weird "rich kid who has it all with a drug problem" angle which take up 75% of the movie. The other 25% of the is a lot of negotiations and aliens talking in alien.
Your 10 year old might find it interesting and you can use it as a way to show them just how bad drugs are, as the main character slowly becomes, well, consumed.
Anyways, watch it, don't watch it. It's a good background movie. Like if Hallmark did Sci-fi.
