Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Jessica. How did you come up with the idea for your new film, The Haunting of Alice D?

Jessica Sonneborn: I wanted to create a “cabin in the woods” style horror movie with a major twist that made it unique from other films like it. I was trying to think of something that could be done on a shoestring budget, but that also had some depth to it.

How many new takes on L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz can possibly be spun from material before audiences just get tired of the extremely limited world and character set he created? The successful interpretations like Wicked or the mini-series Tin Man don’t come along often, and in the meanwhile we have features like the shameful cash-in The Muppet’s Wizard of Oz, the dark Return to Oz, the regretful The Wiz, and now The Witches of Oz. This latest incarnation tries to unnecessarily complicate the mythology while simplifying the characters to embarrassingly silly archetypes and then portraying them with actors better suited for an after-school special pandering to pre-schoolers.

Actress Chanel Ryan (The Witches of Oz, MANswers, Paranormal Whacktivity) has landed the lead role in the upcoming film Crimson Saints (featuring horror genre favorite Tony Todd).

Crimson Saints deals with a mass murder committed in the small town of Schilling Fields, Texas, and a battle between a band of white supremacists and a religious cult.

Ryan plays Mary-Ellen Roberts, a Southern, white trash, religious girl trying to move up in the world. The film is currently in preproduction and finalizing casting and will announce the lead actor in the next couple weeks. You can find the official "Crimson Saints" Facebook page here.

Ryan is booked for lead roles in six films all in some vein of the horror genre ranging from Horror/thriller/action to Horror/comedy to Thriller/Vampire/Fantasy to Film Noir/crime.

Actress/model Chanel Ryan tells us that since she made the decision to switch her focus full time to acting, she has been busy with a number of new 'genre' feature film projects.

"I Just finished shooting the comedy/horror film 'Bad Kids Go To Hell' in Texas and Wow was it Hot!," said Ryan. "We basically went straight from filming in Dallas to San Diego Comicon to unveil the teaser, and do a bit of promotion.

"'Bad Kids' started out as a best selling indie comic book series/graphic novel of the same name, written by Barry Bazza Wernick who is also the film's producer. Matthew Spradlin is the director.

"Fans of the series will be happy to know that since both writers were on set everyday, the project is staying true to the comic in production, script & mood...sort of a "Breakfast Club" meets 'The Grudge'.

Chanel Ryan has a lot going on and definitely one to be on the look out for! The model/actress will soon be seen in several upcoming horror projects including Bad Kids Go To Hell (we talk about that) and more. Actress/producer Salma Hayek and ABC are developing an 8-part miniseries based on author Gregory Maguire's 1995 book "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West."

The script is by Erik Jendersen, producer of HBO's Emmy Award-winning "Band of Brothers" miniseries.

Hayek and Jose Tamez will produce the ABC minseries via their Ventanarosa Productions.

"Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West", was written by Maguire in 1995, with illustrations by Douglas Smith, based on the public domain writings of "The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz" author L. Frank Baum and seven authors after him who continued writing the book series.
