"Are you accusing my new girlfriend of being a mermaid?" Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for a public domain B-movie horror creation called The Little Mermaid, yes a dark and gritty horror take on this classic story. Don't forget The Little Mermaid is originally based on Hans Christian Andersen's story from his book, it's not a Disney creation. This new take is from the same director of Transmorphers, The Witches of Oz, and Piranha Sharks. Dr. Eric Prince, an archaeologist, makes a dramatic discovery on a small Caribbean island – proof of an ancient, advanced prehistoric society. While his dig is in progress, he meets the mysterious and beautiful Aurora Bey and falls in love with her, only to discover she's really a mermaid. This features Mike Markoff, Jeff Denton, Samuel Selman, Sean-Michael Argo, Winston Crooke, Steven Yniguez, Manon Laurent, and Lydia Helen as the mermaid Aurora. This is...

A sexy, gritty reboot of The Wizard of Oz. It sounds like something Jack Donaghy would dream up on 30 Rock, doesn’t it? Yet Emerald City isn’t a 10-second sitcom joke; it’s a 10-hour actual thing that NBC has created. And while it displays some dazzling visual flair and is plenty ambitious in its scope, like a certain famous Scarecrow, this ponderous revamp doesn’t seem to have much of a brain at all.
Debuting Friday, Jan. 6 at 9/8c, Emerald City begins, appropriately enough, in Kansas, with a grown-up Dorothy Gale (True Detective‘s Adria Arjona) searching for...

It’s only been on the air for two months, but I’m comfortable declaring that no TV series has ever offered such an unflinching, honest portrait of what it’s like to be fat in America as NBC’s breakout drama This Is Us. Unsuspecting party guests find out the hard way that Davenport House is home to a vengeful spirit in The Haunting of Alice D. With the new horror film now out on DVD and Digital from Rlj Entertainment, we caught up with Jessica Sonneborn in our latest Q&A feature to discuss her experiences writing, directing, and co-starring in the The Haunting of Alice D, working with Kane Hodder, and much more.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Jessica. How did you come up with the idea for your new film, The Haunting of Alice D?
Jessica Sonneborn: I wanted to create a “cabin in the woods” style horror movie with a major twist that made it unique from other films like it. I was trying to think of something that could be done on a shoestring budget, but that also had some depth to it.

How many new takes on L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz can possibly be spun from material before audiences just get tired of the extremely limited world and character set he created? The successful interpretations like Wicked or the mini-series Tin Man don’t come along often, and in the meanwhile we have features like the shameful cash-in The Muppet’s Wizard of Oz, the dark Return to Oz, the regretful The Wiz, and now The Witches of Oz. This latest incarnation tries to unnecessarily complicate the mythology while simplifying the characters to embarrassingly silly archetypes and then portraying them with actors better suited for an after-school special pandering to pre-schoolers.

Actress/model Chanel Ryan tells us that since she made the decision to switch her focus full time to acting, she has been busy with a number of new 'genre' feature film projects.
"I Just finished shooting the comedy/horror film 'Bad Kids Go To Hell' in Texas and Wow was it Hot!," said Ryan. "We basically went straight from filming in Dallas to San Diego Comicon to unveil the teaser, and do a bit of promotion.
"'Bad Kids' started out as a best selling indie comic book series/graphic novel of the same name, written by Barry Bazza Wernick who is also the film's producer. Matthew Spradlin is the director.
"Fans of the series will be happy to know that since both writers were on set everyday, the project is staying true to the comic in production, script & mood...sort of a "Breakfast Club" meets 'The Grudge'.

Brian S- Ok, you started out modeling and have ended up acting. How did you get into acting?
Chanel Ryan- This is true. At the time I had done a couple of modeling jobs and was having dinner at my friends Traci & Stephi"s house. We lived close to the beach so had just come in and were still in our swimsuits. Their older sister was a...

Brian S- You graduated Byu with a music major. How did you get into film?
Es- Music has always been a natural love and passion, but acting crept up on me. I guess I would have noticed it sooner if music hadn’t been so pronounced. I also just figured that majoring in music would teach me more: music theory,...

Actress/producer Salma Hayek and ABC are developing an 8-part miniseries based on author Gregory Maguire's 1995 book "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West."
The script is by Erik Jendersen, producer of HBO's Emmy Award-winning "Band of Brothers" miniseries.
Hayek and Jose Tamez will produce the ABC minseries via their Ventanarosa Productions.
"Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West", was written by Maguire in 1995, with illustrations by Douglas Smith, based on the public domain writings of "The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz" author L. Frank Baum and seven authors after him who continued writing the book series.
Maguire's take is a 'revisionist' look at the land and characters of 'Oz', including violent imagery and sexual situations, following the story of 'Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West', who it seems wasn't so wicked after all.
