Vancity Raps

Awful, jarringly incoherent, unwatchable self-aggrandizement.

This movie demonstrates no understanding of the historical context of rap / hip hop in Vancouver; does not introduce any of the characters who are veterans of that scene; and does nothing but attempt to foist its five principles and promote their careers as emerging (but still unheard of) rap artists.

I will attempt no judgment of their particular talent but this movie is not about VanCity's rap scene: it's about these five performers. And yet, insofar as their climb to stardom, it is completely unrevealing and uninsightful. It just blasts the viewer with a cacophony of sound and imagery that has practically no narrative or storyline.

I should receive an Order of Canada for sitting all the way through this. This is tripe.
