Monitor started life on page as a sequel to a previous film by David V.G. Davies but it soon became clear that Monitor would work better if those links were removed, the script was altered and names changed 2 characters were removed and the script worked better.
The trailer was revealed at 2010's Gorezone International Film Festival in London.
Originally began as a prequel to Animal Soup but soon became worthy of a different angle. The character of Alice is the only character to remain from the original script and only one scene remains the same.
Most of the characters are named after horror directors
The story process changed numerous times and as a result the film underwent several name changes, starting with Animal Soup 2: Cold Harbour, then Alice at which it stayed for some time before becoming The Vernon Institute, The Damocles Initiative, Malpractice and finally Monitor
