Heroes of Wrestling (1999)

Trivia

Heroes of Wrestling

Edit
Future plans for more shows were canceled due to the low buyrate, horrible critical reaction, and, worst of all, Jake "The Snake" Roberts' drunken performance, which included him dragging Damien the snake out of his bag and stroking him as if he was masturbating.
Due to his health, Gordon Solie did not appear as advertised, though this was never acknowledged.
During the show, Lou Albano was named commissioner, which ended up meaning nothing as they never had a sequel.
Dave Meltzer's "The Wrestling Observer Newsletter" voted it the "Worst Major Wrestling Show" of the year. Meltzer gave an "absolute zero" rating to the Bushwhackers-Iron Sheik/Nikolai Volkoff match. Bryan Alvarez has called it the worst match he had ever seen and rated it "minus more stars than there are in the universe."
There were supposed to be two main events. One was Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts, and the other was King Kong Bundy vs. Yokozuna. Jake showed up drunk, barely able to stand up, let alone wrestle. Neidhart put on a chinlock in a desperate bid to keep Jake from making things even worse. Someone decided to improvise and sent Bundy and Yokozuna out, making it a tag match with Neidhart/Bundy vs. Jake/Yokozuna. Neidhart and Jake tagged in their partners, and Bundy splashed Jake, the illegal man, and the referee quickly counted to three to end the match and the show. The show immediately went off the air twenty minutes early without even a goodbye from the announcers.
