As a person who has been around Spiderman since the beginning, I can say this is a perfect mix of the old and the new. The original Peter Paker was smart but not an actual nerd. This is the Peter Parker updated for the 21st century so I guess you can't be smart without being a nerd. This means Parker will do some stupid things the original Parker would never consider. Since we are in a diverse culture I understand the changes in the supporting characters. The animation style is on point with the earlier comic books which is a nice touch and better than the original cartoon of the 60's. I am enjoying this version of Spiderman and can respect the vision they are trying to make.
This show is one of the better recent products the MCU has delivered and I'm shocked at the amount of negative reviews.
The animation is fantastic, mixing simple images with complex movements. It's very clean animation-wise compared to recent animated hits like the Spiderverse series and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem. It's unique enough to help the show stand out while staying simple enough to take nothing away from the other well done aspects.
I've also been very impressed with the voice acting all around. Many of the voice actors appear to be paying homage to the voices we are used to, almost putting their own take on those who came before them.
Overall this is worthy of a watch.
75%.

I love the character development, the Pop art style, the voice acting, and the design. This is clearly not the same universe as the other iterations of Spider-Man. So I don't understand why people are whining about how it's so different from the other iterations of Spider-Man. I've been into Spider-Man since the 1966 version (in the late 70's reruns). I watched Spider-Man on the Electric Company in the 70's, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends in the 80's, the TV movie, and all of the films. They each have their own approaches and are special in their own way. I appreciate this fresh take and highly recommend it!
I don't understand why fans are so hostile to a new animation.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Judging from the two episodes released so far, the quality is no less than that of Spectacular Spider-Man in 2008 and the Spider-Man animated series in 1994.
This is a Spider-Man story in a parallel universe, not a traditional Spider-Man story.
From the perspective of the play, the thought and ingenuity put into the first episode made the first episode so outstanding. It almost covers all the elements of Spider-Man adaptations.
Telling the story of Spider-Man from the perspective of a friendly neighbor gave me a big surprise. I like that Spider-Man gave the thief a second chance after catching her. I like Peter's daily life as a high school student. I like the interaction between Aunt May and Peter. I like that Lonnie is still strong in such a chaotic neighborhood.
The title cover of each episode is different. The arrangement of the music in the performance makes me very happy when watching Spider-Man swinging in city.
The second episode is about how Peter, a newcomer, balances heroism and daily life. The firefighting plot is really a classic in the Spider-Man story, and the screenwriter can still play new ideas in the classic.
The fight in the pet store is really interesting. Rescuing dogs, pet fish and birds really makes this character a lot cuter.
In short, I really think this is going to be a great Spider-Man show. When I saw the imdb rating, I was really confused by the low score. It deserves a higher score.

A breath of fresh air; the story doesn't follow the usual narrative line typical of Spider-Man and reinvents itself by modernizing pre-existing characters, giving them new life. The characters surrounding Peter feel real and face their own struggles, especially Lonnie, whose story is phenomenal. This series is how I wished Spider-Man in the MCU had been introduced. Comic accuracy is also phenomenal: the feeling i had reading the original comics are the same i got by watching the show, Spiderman stories and Peter stories full of personal drama and "gossip".
However, the reasons that drive the character to become Spider-Man are not very clear and are barely explored. I see this as a missed opportunity to reinvent the character in this aspect.
