Lies Beneath the Surface

Good plot and storyline join good acting and make for an overall watchable flick. Supporting faces also bring a few twists before the film bids the audience ado. The excessive, exaggerated cam zoom of body parts is a bit too much and absolutely annoying. Otherwise, a good watch.

Hanna notices some suspicious activity at a nearby cabin while she's kayaking by herself in a remote lake. Believing the woman and her daughter staying there might be in danger, she notifies the authorities. After the authorities find nothing wrong or unusual, they brush off Hanna. When she looks in on them, it sets off a deadly cat-and-mouse game of survival.

Despite a few slack moments, this Lifetime thriller is quite a grabber with good acting, nice isolated location and some fine tense moments, especially the finale. It's got the typical useless cop who questions the abusive husband and his cranky mother and believes whatever they say without a proper investigation but such things are the usual thing in these type of films. Hey, you would not need to have a strong leading heroine if the cop was competent.

Deadly suspicion, or lies beneth the surface is another in the long line of afternoon thriller movies. I will say this one was slightly better than some others, but ultimately it falls into the trap, that tra[ being a combination of both bad script and bad acting for it, this mother centers on a woman called hanna. Played here by leilia symington, I didnt think she was all that bad, she runs a boat tour thing with a guy that I think is her brother, until she gets caught up in the life of her cabin buddies and the problems they face. The plot was not too bad but a little rushed in places, and overall theres not much else to say here, but it was watchable for what it was.
