Kids partying on a boat what could go wrong? Donkey Punch was the last party boat film I saw but this mini series is way more serious than that.
All the acting was on point from all characters apart from maybe Kiffy. She just annoyed me. But then is that her good acting?
Anyway cliche get on a boat find a shed load of money just floating, beggar off with it and deal with the fall out. Although the fall out is absolutely might and whilst I figured out what had happened with three episodes to go it was still an entertaining watch. The back story to why the money is floating randomly is absolutely brilliant and I never would have guessed that in a million years.
Well worth the binge and definitely more realistic than Donkey Punch.

Hooked after the first 10 minutes of the first episode. Cannot praise the cinematography and ambience enough. Its a very scenic drama.
Of the main yatch crew there are a few moments I thought certain characters were sadly overshadowed development wise, which is a shame as they all are acted great. The mystery behind the drama itself was very twisty the first 4 episodes, but gets obvious pretty quickly in the latter half where you're basically left waiting for the finale to play our predictably. On balance a tremendous endeavor, and a show I'd recommend.
Not one for the seasick mind you, but the bouncing around does add to the great atmosphere. Its definitely on my top 10 list of recommended tv shows for the first half of this year.

Two girls run away escaping the reality of what they had done.
They come across a yacht, found some fun with a bunch of random party individuals who were also escaping their own issues.
The group, by chance, or maybe not by chance, come across a boat, and find something particularly of interest to all.
They all come to an agreement about their new findings and set sail to continue their journey of island hopping.
Their new found items start to cause issues amongst them all, ultimately destroying trust, and disconnecting friendships.
As the story progresses, they run into issues on land, and at sea.
The plot thickens as some individuals attempt to change their circumstance, by escaping. However, this becomes terrifying to some.
The situation turns nasty, and some people's lives become at risk.
Not all is who you think they are.

Or "How to ruin an idyllic life by allowing total strangers onto your yacht" ... like we all would, right? Completely implausible story involving a bunch of totally unlikeable characters. No rhyme or reason to what they do, apart from prolonging the agony of this show. Cannot recommend, unless you really have nothing better to do with your time.

I found much in No Escape to be well done: acting, cinematography, etc. The story was fast-paced and obviously compelling enough to motivate me to watch the entire series. It was also nice to travel around on a yacht and see gorgeous scenery. The last film I recall with such breathtaking yacht views was Plein Soleil/Purple Noon (starring Alain Delon), which is set in and around the Mediterranean sea. The setting of No Escape is mostly on the seas around the Philippines, Bali, and Australia. There were a few implausibilities, but my only major complaint is that the final episode jams a bunch of gratuitous nonsense in at the very end (the curve ball about the rivalry between the brothers, etc.). All of that was totally unnecessary and in fact diminished the overall value of the work. Sometimes less is more!
