A fire is brewing, but for now, it’s contained to two lovebirds.

In a new exclusive clip from Fire Country, audiences get a peek at Eve and an old flame as they make their way around a magical place where adults need not be constrained by the rules of the modern world.

Exclusive: Longtime Berlanti Productions executive Jonathan Gabay has been named President of Television for film and TV production company Rideback, which recently re-upped its first-look TV deal at CBS Studios. Reporting to Rideback co-CEOs Jonathan Eirich and Michael LoFaso, Gabay will lead TV development and production, overseeing a team that includes Rideback VP Television Courteney Tarantin.

Gabay succeeds Lindsey Liberatore, who recently left as EVP Television, segueing to producing.

He comes to Rideback from Berlanti Productions. Exclusive: Walker star/executive producer Jared Padalecki has re-teamed with the CW series’ executive producer/showrunner Anna Fricke for a new drama project, which has been set up at CBS for development.

Like Walker, the untitled one-hour takes place in Padalecki’s home state of Texas, but instead of a ranger, he will now play a doctor. Unlike most medical dramas, which take place at big, urban hospitals, the Fricke/Padalecki project spotlights rural medicine, which is rarely seen on TV. It centers on a headstrong, devoted country doctor (Padalecki) who practices his unique style of improvisational medicine alongside his new protégé, a young doctor running from her past, as they operate a mobile clinic and heal the bodies and souls of their underserved community in the medical desert of rural Texas.

Erin Moriarty got her start in the industry when she was just 11 years old, and her best movies and TV shows run her entire timeline from her work as a teenager up to now. Now streaming on Netflix, the six-episode miniseries takes place in 1857, and is “a fictionalized dramatization and examination of the violent collision of culture, religion, and community as men and women fight and die for control of this world,” following them as they head west.

There's just something about a procedural cop drama that just seems to work well on network television. From "NYPD Blue" to "The Rookie" and everything in between, there's a massive audience for such things. That's why The CW looked to reboot "Walker, Texas Ranger" several years back. The original show starred legendary actor and action hero Chuck Norris as the title character. For the reboot, the network turned to "Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki in what would simply be titled "Walker."

Unfortunately for viewers, "Walker" season 4, which finished its run in 2024, was the end of the line for the show. The spin-off "Walker: Independence" is also at the end of its run after just a single season. There will be no fifth season of adventures for Cordell Walker, with Padalecki left to figure out what he'd like to do with his career next.

The procedural drama Wild Cards on the CW was green-lit for a second season in May, but like so many CW shows before, it floated in the bubble about whether the network would be canceled. For fans of this intriguing Canadian-us show, it was a relief.

Season 2 of Wild Cards is currently in production and will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 6 in the US. Not only will we have more crime-fighting stories led by Max and her partner, Ellis, who is portrayed by Vanessa Morgan of Riverdale and Giacomo Gianniotti of Reign, respectively. A handful of guest stars will also join the roster.

It's big news, considering we didn't have much coverage between the renewal and the guest star update. The CW has a history of keeping mum on show spoilers, even when updates are considered spoilers. Wild Cards has followed the same pattern, so we'll take what we can get regarding its content.

Territory, Netflix's best Yellowstone replacement, debuts to a solid score on Rotten Tomatoes. Originally titled Desert King, by creators Ben Davies and Timothy Lee, Territory is a six-episode Western that puts the spotlight on Marianne Station. It's the world's largest cattle station, owned for generations by the Lawson family dynasty, and a target for rivals, gangsters, and Indigenous elders, as the Lawsons engage in a battle for succession. The Australian drama recently arrived on Netflix, with reviews starting to come in.

Reviews have started to trickle in for Territory on Rotten Tomatoes, with the drama currently sitting at 80%. It's worth noting that this is based only on five reviews, with four positive and one negative, so the score will fluctuate as more reviews come in. At the moment, it averages out to 5.30/10.

The Prime Video series adaptation of Criminal, the Eisner Award-winning graphic novel series written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Sean Phillips, has been steadily building up its cast in recent months, and Deadline has revealed that eight more actors have been added to the line-up! A second Fire Country spinoff appears to be more likely, as Jared Padalecki signs a major deal with CBS. After a 15-season run as Sam Winchester on the monster-hunting drama Supernatural, Padalecki had already lined up his next role on The CW with Walker. The reboot of the 1990s action series lasted four seasons, coming to an end earlier this year. But it looks like the veteran TV star has already lined up his next starring role, which will be previewed in Fire Country season 3.

Deadline reports that CBS Studios has extended its first-look deal with Padalecki. The deal, which means that Padalecki is involved with developing and producing a new series for CBS Studios, comes as the actor will guest star in three episodes of Fire Country season 3, with the potential for a spinoff built around his character.

Padalecki first entered a first-look pact with CBS Studios in 2022 when the former Supernatural star was executive producing two CW series for the studio, Walker, which he also headlined, and prequel Walker: Independence.

Jared Padalecki has been cast in the upcoming third season of “Fire Country” at CBS, Variety has confirmed.

Padalecki will appear in three episodes in a recurring role. He will play Camden, who is described as “a SoCal firefighter and maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s (Max Thieriot) raw talent.”

After the cancelation of The Winchesters, Supernatural creator Eric Kripke has a touching answer for those who miss the original series. The show ran for 15 years, and the adventures of Sam and Dean Winchester were a leading part of The WB and The CW's slates. After the series came to an end in 2020, it was followed by the series The Winchesters, which initially appeared to be a prequel, though would be revealed in what's now the series finale to actually be set in another universe entirely.

The Brendan Fraser series Professionals is not moving forward at The CW. The series, which premiered season 1 in 2022, was created by Michael Colleary and Jeff Most. A spinoff of the movie Soldiers of Fortune, it followed a former counterintelligence officer who is called in to help a scientist couple following the destruction of their medical satellite. In addition to Fraser, the series starred Elena Anaya, Ken Duken, Lisa Loven Kongsli, and Smallville's Tom Welling.

In a surprising move, CW has opted to bring back fan favourite series Superman & Lois for a slightly abbreviated fourth season. The network has been cancelling shows left and right, with them also pulling the plug on the Batman-universe-themed series Gotham Knights after only one season. This makes Superman & Lois the last remaining DC series on the network, with The Flash having recently aired its series finale.

According to Deadline, the renewal comes with a few caveats. For one, the budget has been slashed, meaning only ten episodes will be produced as opposed to the standard thirteen.
