Not a gangster movie but same crippling flaw
A mob boss released from prison is old, in bad health, and perplexed by the world today. The movie is about how he deals with it all.
Two FBI agents do their usual bullying thing. But one agent gets a line that reminds us of the crippling flaw of most movies about gangsters. He asks a neighbor who admires the gangster about the fact that he extorted a small fortune for himself with his weekly levies on the small businesses.

Woke before woke became a thing
Who the heck wrote this garbage? So boring, the opposite of what a gangster movie. People watch gangsta movies to see gangstas not alphabet people apologetics. Turned it off as soon as the daughter came out, just another preachy woke movie.
This film was simple. RICH in life lessons U MESS a WITH BULL U GET the horn
The was a Film about a man who made choice's and lived with the decisions. He didn't always understand the impact of his choice's on the people in his life.We all have older people in our lives that won't change with the times And this film portrayed us humans making the best of it. because 1. nobodies perfect and 2. we love our older friends and relative's. I fell the way the old man felt about his daughter some goof smacks her around it would be my duty to hurt him badly which i would happily do.Like i said in my opening this movie was simple it was a love story and we all know love is painful as much as it is joyful. yin and yang can't have a up without the down.If you are looking for a action packed MOB film this is not for you.this movie was like the soprano's if i had to compare it to something.Like that series showed TONY being a mob boss it spent a lot of time showing him dealing with his crazy mom and sister.
Unexpected.
I admit I saw the Once upon aaa. title, then the cast, and assumed it was the same old... But with a spare afternoon, what the heck. How wrong could I be!! Simple, different, and strangely touching. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and reaffirmed the life lesson, don't assume anything.
A Bit Slow, But Watchable - Once Upon a TIme in Queens
This film really captures the pace of life in Queen; I lived there for over 20 years. The pace is slow; very little ever happens of any importance in Queens. The film captures that inertia and the day to day ho-hum existence that one can feel by living in a place like Maspeth. I taught in Flushing and lived in Hollis, but it is pretty much the same all over Queens. You are what you do for a living.
Paul Sorvino does a nice job as a former mafia boss who is bored to death in his new role as a former mafia boss, and trying to reconcile with his daughter and next door neighbor. The supporting cast is fine, as is the script. If you are going to this film to see mob action or some type of super hood, you will be disappointed. But in the end, Sorvino nails it.
