Gimme an episode like this, focused on a single character and telling its backstory, than another boring procedural one that is just a variation of the previous 150 blacklisters.
He doesn't come out well in this but he is let down by everything. The writing involves throwing a truckload of clichés at a wall and the directorial missteps are almost unbelievable. Ressler was never a great character but in this he is just someone with the his name with no connection to who he was before and that is down to terrible writing and direction. The visual style that ordinarily runs through the show is entirely missing here. Did the people who worked on this episode get the gig because someone lost a bet in a bar? This is so wrong.
What a terrible episode. I could talk about it for a long time, but suffice to say, everything that should have happened, didn't. Everything that shouldn't have happened, did. Unless there is more to come, it failed miserably.
This is the most predictable thing I've seen. It's exactly how things work in Hollywood and never in real life. I thought writers have moved on from this, at least in more serious shows. Blacklist used to be better than this. It looks like a throwaway season altogether.
I know a lot of people want action and most of all Reddington, but this episode gave a lot of depth to a character that had a lot of screentime but always floated a bit on the surface.
After last seasons final episode, we now get to see a vital link between the former main character and her greatest love, and the pain he feels is depicted in a very well written episode.
Great job.

- TriviaRessler carries an interesting mix of cash - he pays his motel bill with two of the old style twenty-dollar bills that, while still legal tender, haven't been printed since 1998 (far longer ago than the typical lifespan of paper currency) and his bar bill with a blue hundred-dollar bill first introduced in 2013 which is still being printed to the present day.
- GoofsDuring her run on the series, Elizabeth Keen's birthday, in particular the birth year, was always close to that of the actress who plays the role, Megan Boone, which is 1983, yet the gravestone is engraved with 1985, a two years difference.
