The series began as a series of five separate individual class film assignments at New York University (NYU)'s Tisch School of the Arts introductory narrative class.

Internally, the film played as a meta-commentary on NYU's cut and dry approach to "special scenes" (boxing, fake blood, weapons, falling down several flights of stairs, anything to do with the MTA and subway trains, working with children, scooters, skateboards, bicycles, cars) all of which the Juegos Bros were able to accomplish, but in creative ways to comply with policy and execute scenes which they were told were "too dangerous" or "you'd never get approval for that!"
