    Amazing immigrant story

Just saw this at the Charlotte Film Festival. Brilliant immigrant story from the point of view of a first generation child. Deftly handles sensitive and challenging racial dynamics while confronting the realities of generational disconnect. This is a film that is so specific, and in its specificity finds a connection to our shared humanity. Funny, emotional and so real. This film exists at such an impressively high level of sophistication that it doesn't feel like a student film, but feels in an every way a complete story. Beautiful in every way. Among the best student films I have ever seen. See it in the big screen if you can.

    adopted

A provocative short film about immigrant status, about clash between cultures, about identity and one of dreams not so rare in childhood period - to be adopted by the family of best friend.

The mix of humor , in so different nuances, the simplicity of story and the touching accents are the virtues of this real wise to touching crafted short film.

And the end is just the perfect crown for a story about inadaptation , refuge in tradition, a modest Chinese family in America looking for the best for their child , maybe not in the proper manner but with hard work and noble interests.

In short, absolutely impressive work, great for message and for its gentle - precise construction.
