If you are interested in characters like Ripley and con artists in films like Catch Me If You Can this is a real treat. It tells the story of a Norwegian swindler who took things to the extreme and could not be stopped. The tales of what he did and how he kept getting away with it are mind blowing. It definitely makes you question how the authorities approach people like Philip in Norway. One of the prisons featured is where Michael Moore visited in a documentary he made and this series definitely makes you question if that is the right kind of place for people on the more extreme end of crime. I would hope that a full dramatic movie is in the works so audiences can be taken into the action more as my one reservation is that the series relies on a lot of recounting. But aside from that this is a really good watch and one of the best series of its kind that I have seen in a while.
Watched it all on release day after seeing the trailers. Wow! Now that's an insane story! Just when you think you've heard it all a character like Philip comes along. I was gripped almost all the way through. It is absolute madness that a single man did so much madness. The show looks great and the interviews are really interesting in getting into the crime world of swindlers. Henrik Holm has an amazing face and his expressions do a lot of work. Part of me wished he had more dialogue but who knows maybe they'll make a movie version with him as the star (I wish). Overall a really great show that goes in all kinds of nuts directions.

LOVED it! Tried to resist watching all in one sitting but couldnt help myself. An incredible story with so many WTF moments. I was glued to the screen and needed to know how it all ended for each of the people. Blows your mind to think this kind of stuff is happening. If youre interested in conmen and scams this is a must. I must say Henrik Holm is mesmerizing and does such a good job playing this kind of character ive never seen him play before. I also loved the music which kinda had an 80s vibe in lots of parts and the photography looked really great especially the prison island which was an amazing and interesting location.
In my opinion the best true crime series are behind us. Most of the really interesting cases have been covered. So to find something like this that I'd simply never heard of is refreshing to say the least. The central figure of Philip is a criminal enigma who pulls of stuff that will have questioning how someone could have the confidence and luck to push things as far as he did in the world of con artistry. His former co-conspirator is a very interesting narrator and offers his own twisting story through the criminal world. How Norway's 'trusting' nature as a society can be exploited by those who refuse to play by the rules is also an interesting theme that runs through the series. The only down side is a limited sense of who Philip really was, but as the title says he's a phantom so that comes with the territory. If like me you're always on the hunt for those stories that got away or slipped under the radar, this is a very solid watch.

Binged it all. Crazy story and pretty unique. Hard to find series that still pack a punch like this and also have interesting themes: the prison system, crime and punishment, what makes a psychopath... I won't go into spoilers, but the story is out there and told by some fascinating characters. Henrik Holm really brings the main character to life. Highly recommended for fans of rollercoaster storytelling. I won't go into spoilers here but I found myself in absolute disbelief a few times at just how far things went. Also shows an interesting side to Norway most people won't have considered. Best series of its kind that I've seen in a while.
