Only You is a new romantic drama directed by Fashion Chicks director Jonathan Elbers.
Elisabeth (Claire Bender) is living the perfect life and is about to marry her childhood sweetheart. However, on her stag night, she meets Arthur (Egbert-Jan Weeber) and together they learn that they have good chemistry between them. So they decide to spend the weekend together, but this changes everything for both of them.
Unfortunately, with this film they tell a standard romantic story filled with the well-known clichés, but the protagonists still manage to carry the film well together. The two actors have a good credible chemistry together. Yet the story comes from a special angle where someone who seems to have everything in hand and is about to marry her childhood sweetheart, suddenly tries to change everything just like that after meeting someone else. For example, the story could have been more of a drama if it had been told from Elisabeth's corner of her future husband. If the story had been told in the opposite way, this could have been a better drama film, but they still opt for a standard Dutch romantic story.
Despite the good chemistry between the protagonists, this side of the future husband is not really looked at and the film is more about the relationship of the protagonists. The film can come across as half a story, as the husband-to-be doesn't really get time for his side of the story. This makes the film seem like something is missing. Apart from the good chemistry between the protagonists, the film seems to support secret cheating.
