Featured review
It opens with the helpful narrator explaining the situation with the war lords and pirates terrorizing the poor fishermen. The protection gang is collecting. A hero helps a lady in distress. Later they try to kidnap him but he fights them off. The boss then tries to molest two female fishmongers. Surprise! They both kick the snot out of all his gang. Two male heroes then arrive but are not needed in the fight. The story is established as the standard evil Japanese plot. Fans of this genre are well aware of that plot so I need say no more.
Tong Kam-Tong is listed as the lead. He had many extra roles in some of the best movies of the 1970s but this is his only lead. The other supporting characters have few other movie credits. It's really a four way costar situation in this movie. That is unusual for the genre and it worked.
The fights were good as could be for 1972. Mostly hand to hand with no particular style, there were lots of kicks, and props were used as weapons at times. I rate it simply average for the year and genre and fans of the genre would not be either disappointed or too bored.
My copy is a digital file that plays in the 4:3 format typical of old VHS tapes. The color is okay and the scratches not too bad. At times it gets too dark particularly during some fights. It is English dubbed by the A team of voice overs.
