The newspaper clipping in Jane Redding's wallet says:

Neil Redding, Tragic Victim of Collapsed Economy. By Samantha Halbert, Cleveland Spectator.

Neil Redding, 76, was pronounced dead yesterday, the apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The body was discovered at 6:20 PM, by his wife, Jane Redding. She told investigating officers that her husband had become increasingly depressed after learning that their life savings was lost by a New York investment firm. Investigating officers ruled out any suggestion of foul play, and determined the death was suicide. The wound was caused by a U.S. Army service revolver once owned by ther son, Jeffery Redding. Jeffery Redding died in the US invasion of Iraq. Ms. Redding said, "After Jeffery's death, my husband found it hard to regain his footing. When we lost our money, it was too much." Ms. Redding said that a memorial service would be held for close friends at a date yet to be determined.
Character Fact: The role of Madeline Barton was played by twin actresses Amanda and Rachel Pace. She is the granddaughter of Henry Barton. She is 10 years old and is allergic to nuts. It is possible that she is a sadist, but she is definitely a little liar.

Character Fact: Jane Redding is from Cleveland. Jane is about 70 years old. She had a husband named Niel who planned to buy a boat when he retired. He committed suicide a few months ago by shooting himself in the head due to losing all of his money in a bad investment. Prior to that her son was killed in Iraq, as a member of the US Army. She blames Henry Barton for her husband's death.
Character Fact: Henry Barton once worked as a butcher as a summer job when he was in high school. He is planning to announce that he will be retiring. He is married, but never refers to his wife by her name throughout the movie, even when speaking with her on the phone.
