First thing first - Alton Brown is a God among men. I've loved everything he did on Food TV, and his stint here on Netflix isn't any different. He's a walking encyclopedia of food.
Perhaps because of that, Kristen Kish pales by comparison. She seems out of her depth. I'm not sure she's up to the level of Alton or even the other judges to be on this show. Overall, I like it as much as the other Iron Chef shows. Very entertaining and educational as well.

Great concept, annoying chairman big deal, I think it's kind of stupid but entertaining. Love the show currently hooked on it. My main issue is that these judges are awful at doing their job and the female co host seems very clueless at times constantly pestering chefs for information that she should know as a host on this very prestigious show. Other than that, I can't complain. I'm have been very enthralled and entertained so far.
Most of the people on this show were also on other cooking shows. Alton Brown had a Blue's Clues type cooking show that was kind of fun; Andrew Zimmern had Bizarre Foods; Kristen Kish has her "Fast Foodies"... All of them are personable and fun to watch.
The cooking is shown at a higher level, not recipes but concepts. And, the competition never gets any more heated than "friendly". Yeah, it has its flaws but overall it is a fun watch.
But, I may be a bit prejudiced after seeing the great Danny Trejo as one of the guest judges...

When Iron Chef started in Japan, back in the 1990's, it was more of a "David and Goliath" type of show. But just as all long running shows need to evolve to be relevant, Iron Chef has evolved to more of an "Achilles vs. Hector" or "Batman vs. Superman!' Think of it this way, we don't want a Super Bowl of the worst in the NFL vs. The best in the NFL. All of the episodes were fun and exciting to watch. I think the Live Sturgeon episode was the best, it was very intense and a close score. And the Finale was also entertaining! Disclosure: I HATE to cook, but I do love good food. And every dish that I saw looked absolutely stunning. I would change one thing, never have a guest judge who is still learning how to make toast. Make the guest judge as least someone who knows how much work/experience/art goes into the dishes that were made. I hope Netflix makes a Season 2 of this new take on Iron Chef.
Actually i enjoyed this more than i enjoyed watching other cooking show. Fun and entertaining challenges & twists. No idea whats happening in the chairman's head since he always seem out of this world, but i really enjoyed hearing those two announcers. Most of the iron chef are really talented. Recommended.
