    Season Two B Review

A couple of months back I reviewed the first half of the second season of Sky's Paramedic comedy "Bloods". I kept using terms like 'average', 'tolerable' and 'forgettable' to describe it and, despite a slight shift towards more melancholy storylines for the final five, I'd still probably use those same adjectives.

With their investigation upcoming following their incident on New Years Eve, Wendy (Jane Horrocks) and Maleek (Samson Kayo) are worried about the potential outcomes. Jo (Lucy Punch) firmly sets her heart against Lawrence (Julian Barratt) following his rejection of her that same night. Distraction comes for her when she sees HAAART in action and is given the opportunity to join their all action team. Kareshma (Aasiya Shah) and Gary (Adrian Scarborough) struggle to comes to terms with the fact there's nothing they can do to save Tasha (Grace Fincham) for whom death is drawing close.

So yes, a few darker storylines in these concluding episodes of season two. There are also issues with racist patients, mental health and another cliff-hanger late in the last episode that could have ramifications if a third season is confirmed. The performances are good, as you'd expect from the seasoned quality of the actors involved. There's some decent music in the score and a bit of money spent on a series of scenes at Selhurst Park.

It's just not spectacularly funny. It's not unfunny or offensively bad, it's just that the tone of the show lends itself to lots of gentle character-based humour, so that's what the show provides. It's a decent background noise, but if I'm honest I found myself on my phone quite a lot throughout and don't feel like I missed much in those times.

I'll certainly come back for a third season, if one is provided but If not, I can't say I'd be genuinely upset.
