Duke City Comedy League (2010)

FAQ

Duke City Comedy League

Every time "Duke City Comedy League" is filmed, the cast and crew gets to tag the wall with their names, a little drawing, or whatever they feel like (as long as it meets broadcast censorship standards). Each person can tag one brick. They use a silver Sharpie to write on the wall.

The "Duke City Comedy League" is reportedly set in a club that was formerly a two-lane bowling alley. Abandoned sometime in the mid-1960's, the bowling alley was converted into a comedy club in the 1970's by Santiago "Uncle Silly" Risa, an uncle of the show's host, Goldie Garcia. The former bowling alley had been home to the now-defunct "Duke City Bowling League", and Uncle Silly simply covered-up the word "Bowling" with "Comedy" on the sign painted on the end wall of the building.

Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the show is produced, is called "The Duke City". That's because the city was named for the Duke Of Alburquerque, brother of the king of Spain. Rumor has it that the executive producer of the show is dyslexic, and has trouble spelling "Albuquerque"; "Duke City" is easier. So, the show's called "Duke City Comedy League"!
