Originally Monster Madness was intended to be a feature length documentary that would have been uploaded on Cinemassacre's website. Because of the limited space of video that can be uploaded on the internet at the time, the documentary would have to be divided into segments. Due to that issue, James Rolfe decided to make several video segments each discussing a different horror movie during the whole month of October. That decision lead to the creation of this series.
Several of the 2021 episodes got pulled and remade after it was discovered the reviews contained plagiarism. The scripts for several reviews contained portions copied directly from other critics' movie reviews. The writer of these scripts, Newt Wallen, was fired from Screenwave Media as a result.
