People seem too focused on the animation aspect and that alone decided their rating.
It is a good movie with enjoyable plot and fine CGI animation. CGI may not be everyone's cup of tea and especially since every new work is expected to exceed the limits of animation, It is 2023. But this movie does it just fine. The combat is fluid and movie is still very watchable while the characters' models look off at times.
I didn't feel the need to address the animation for most of the movie and that's a good sign. The second part will surely feel the same or even better as It is gonna have the most exciting part.

I'm a huge fan of TSDS series and it's not just story that got me addicted to this series but also damn cool fighting animations...I don't get it why did animators go for such poor choise for CGI. It doesn't make any sence because it was proven many times that this kind of thing is what ruins shows.
I hope that Netflix sees this and goes back to the original style animation because it's not working for me and certainly won't for many many MANY others. It's painful to the eyes to watch it like that and it does not give that satisfaction that it's supposed to. Whoever in his right mind allowed this to air really needs to get fired.

It's been discussed how changing animation style can sometimes backfire - a classic example being the remake of 1997 Berserk. Moving on from that...
The change in animation style wasn't really noticeable after 5 minutes. The best seasons of Seven Deadly Sins are the first 2 and there is no follow-up movie which is as enjoyable as the first 2 seasons. That said, this movie was rather average, I'm glad I watched it but it's not high on "re-watch value". There's a nice mix of familiar and new characters and a I'm curious to see how the show continues. I'll definitely be watching the next instalment.

It's good and I'm excited for the continuation of the series and can't wait to get into the plot. But a huge downside is the animation. The graphics are waayyy off of the original art style and it's too 3D. And as much as it doesn't seem like lazy work, the quality of the art isn't the best compared to how it was in the earlier series. Just in general the animation is too 3D and off brand of the original. And the animation reminds me of video games. It just isn't the best animation I'd say.
However, the plot will be amazing and I'm excited to watch the new generation, the children of our favorite sins, in this with the chaos to come. And I really hope we see Arthur.

I was originally a huge fan of the series, but the animation on this is just too painful. I thought the last season or two of the original show was a drop off... but this, this is just to much. I lasted a whole 5 minutes before turning it off. Seems more like the opening scene to a low budget game then the animation of anime. Seriously disappointed as when they first announced this I was very excited.
I really hope that Netflix actually listen and start going back to the original style because words cannot explain how poor this is. They have the potential to make a great series here but as per usual they have fumbled the bag. Who ever OKed this needs sacking.
