Ten years after the events of Crackdown (2007), Pacific City is in ruins and overrun by mutant freaks.

In this game you are a genetically modified super cop that goes by Agent and you must fight a new group known as Cell and a vicious virus that turns people into mutated monsters with various abilities. I remember playing this as a kid but not finishing the game due to some of the difficult parts and not really liking the atmosphere. Having played it again and finished it I would say it&#39;s a fine game. It keeps the map and much of the gameplay from the original but with a few tweaks to differentiate itself from its original. It still retains that fun arcade feel, great sound design, gunplay from the original but with some extra fun in extra explosives/guns, mobile agility orbs that you have to chase to collect and the addition of monsters. The monsters are a fun alternate from the regular human enemies in the game and have various forms that attack in different ways with different damage done. The changes in agility in the form of a wing suit was cool but I never really used it. The melee got an upgrade so you can grab poles and hit enemies with them and a running charge. All of these make for a fun experience for me. However, this game is most definitely lacking in multiple aspects. While this game does share some of the same flaws of its predecessor (no map for collectables, hard turning while driving, aim) but with the new ideas comes new shortcomings. The human enemies aren&#39;t as diverse with the enemy group having one normal enemy with various weapons and a heavy armor type. This wouldn&#39;t be so bad if they had strengthened their narrative presence instead of reducing them to collectable audio logs scattered throughout the city. I did not find the additional melee combo system to be smooth but maybe it was a necessary evil when they have you surrounded by a multitude of enemies at night. Also the ending felt silly and out of nowhere due to not being well acquainted with the human antagonist. In the end I found this game to be a weak follow up to the original. Even with all the fun new upgrades some might struggle in finding a reason to play. I don&#39;t regret my time, I just wish this game had a better execution.

Crackdown 2

This isn&#39;t a sequel. It&#39;s just more of the same, but not as interesting because there&#39;s barely a story. Thought the story of the first game was thin? Crackdown 2 is even thinner. I was at least looking forward to some improvements, but it seems like none of the things that annoyed me in the first game have been improved. Like being a super-powered being who gets blocked climbing up buildings by gutters and simple architecture? Yeah me neither. Climbing still sucks. Everything feels more like a chore than fun now. As one reviewer called it: &quot;Busywork: The Game.&quot; Sounds fun huh. If you must play a Crackdown game, just stick with the first one. It&#39;s a better game. It appear the devs didn&#39;t want to make a sequel. They just wanted to expand the multiplayer, change the mission objectives sorta, and call it an entirely new game. Same city tho. So the maps aren&#39;t new. Crackdown 2 was a huge letdown. I was expecting to find a game that was like the first, but extended and better. Instead we got this crud. Nerf&#39;d. Without any improvements. Even more annoying than the first with all the zombie freaks. Just not any fun anymore. Boooooo!
