The movie is based on a play by Walter van den Broeck, who figures in the movie as one of the strikers.
The scenes of the old 1910 factory are the actual buildings of the Vieille Montagne in Balen (Belgium), which became Nyrstar in 2007.
Jef Sleeckx appears in cameo during the announcement as a political suporter and organisator of the 10fr raise pamflet.
