The Smurfs' new movie adventure lacks the charm of the little blue ones who have captivated generations.
Director Chris Miller mixes an overly childish adventure with music that doesn't quite meet the expectations one might always have for these characters. While the film is designed for young children, it doesn't quite work for them either. It's a flat journey, with no real appeal other than its splendid animation.
Its songs work, but they feel like they don't quite fit into the plot. It attempts to resemble Trolls, but it doesn't achieve the same impact. Still, the film is decent enough, just enough fun to watch and have a decent time with, but nothing else is memorable once the end credits roll.
It must also be said that the film's effective aspects are due to its reuse of what was effective, which lacks originality and is somewhat tiresome. It's a predictable journey whose ending we know from the beginning.
In short, this is a film that works thanks to the colors of its animation, but it falls far short of proposing refreshing and encouraging ideas for the future. It ends up being just another film about these characters.

So... i just got done watching the Paramount own Smurf movie "THE SMURFS" i had to go watch it early when the Australia release on July 5th and i watched it... you know it's was a bit eh in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong the character were good, i did got laugh from a few jokes and the animation was decent enough... but sadly this movie wasn't good and not as bad but it eh..., i guess it was in development back in 2022 and after 3 years they made it, but however the director was fine, but when i saw Pam Brady writing i was like: "wait Pam Brady making a kids film?"
Overall mediocre film..... (5/10 eh)

Was a waste of time for me and my 10yrs old son then at the end Indian music and dance was too much. I'll give it a 3 stars just because the Smurfs are cute but I really don't suggest this movie.we wanted so leave before finish but we were still have some nachos and popcorn to finish, we regret we didn't take the nachos and popcorn with us home and also very sorry for this details but my coment was not 600 caractere so I had to do something in regards so gettin back to Indian song and dance at the end of the movie that was really not needed as the movie was very very bad and we enjoy mostly the nachos.
Actors for the smurfs ere not right. Hard to watch. Better to watch when it comes to an instead and "free". No name and Smurfette were hard to watch which matters it difficult cause the movie is mostly about them. It's more of a movie containing all of Rhianna's music along side an okay storyline. Skip it, totally. It worth it. I love Rhianna just not a fan of her voice acting for animated movies. Just stay home and wait for it to come out. I promise you're not missing much. There are many other smurf movies that are a whole lot better. This is predictable and not very exciting. I was tried my best to keep interested.
The original smurfs cartoon from the 1980's had heart, soul, magic and a whole lot of substance, this one is just useless and it continues the downward spiral started in season 9 and continues onward ever since, now rihanna is a good singer, but she is wrong for voicing smurfette, she adds absolutely nothing new to the character, although there some good scenes, the rest are completely atrocious and doesn't have any of the charm nor heart of the original peyo clifford comic strip nor hanna barbera cartoons, the screenplay is completely woeful, it completely missed the opportunity of the charm, the writing is just pitiful, i will stick with the 1980's saturday morning cartoon version from nbc instead, this thing is just pathetic.
Thumbs way down.

- Quotes
Hefty Smurf: Hey, what about us?
Razamel: Prisoners don't get clam drinks! But, I do have another treat in store for you. I hope you like... party games! We're going to play one called: let's squish a smurf everytime Papa doesn't tell me where the last magic book is, until all you smurfs ARE SQUASHED!
Hefty Smurf: That doesn't sound like a fun game.
- Crazy creditsThe closing credits are displayed on images of scenes from the movie, designed in the style of the original Smurf comics by Peyo.
- Alternate versionsThe UK release was cut, the distributor chose to slightly increase the duration of a bleep on the soundtrack so that the mild bad language which was partially disguised behind the bleep could not be made out. This change was made in order to obtain a U classification. An uncut PG classification was available.
