    The Cost of the Truth

Okay, Ep 6 "Required Protection" ratcheted up the tension! I'm rating it high for the plot (maybe an 8/10 for the ending alone), but I'm holding it back for a 7/10 overall because of the political logic.

Seeing Eidra confirm the Russian link was satisfying, but that final scene with the MP whistleblower - wow! That assassination was genuinely shocking and finally proved that this isn't just about diplomatic leaks; it's a kill-or-be-killed scenario.

Look, I'm loving the show, but can we talk about the British politics? The show continues to simplify the UK's political system, treating ministers like US presidential appointees instead of powerful elected MPs. It takes away some of the nuance, but honestly, the central mess of the Wyler marriage and the high stakes are so addictive I can't look away! The end will leave you speechless!

    Everything Takes Time

It's interesting that all this is taking place in a tight little period of time. As the politicos bounce off one another, there are sane voices. Kate is finally getting things done. She takes risks, yes, but diplomacy always needs that. Deniability is always an alternative although it doesn't help in the long run. The Prime minister is such a jerk. But he is a typical politician: "You voted for me--I will do whatever I want--but I'm also aware that I have seem real deficits, historically. It turns out he has a connection that most are not aware of, and that will be tapped. Finally, the Vice President's position is in the works and Kate may have to play dirty.

Particularly strong performance by Rory Kinnear

Show continues to impress. The writing is so intricately tied to todays real life conflict in Ukraine, it provides genuine thoughtful perspective of how things may play out.

Like in Penny Dreadful, the more screen time you give Rory Kinnear, the better your show will be. He plays the prime minister so well, you can't help but think the guy would actually make a great politician.

Love where the show is headed and I think it was wise to keep the characters to a small group. The show doesn't have any space for annoying unnecessary characters and there are none. After 6 episodes, perhaps it's time to reveal the real villain for viewers to root against instead of a shadowy country, to make it more personal.

It's been one of those days, I'm off for the federal holiday of Juneteenth; a holiday that needs more recognition. But yeah, I've just watched 6 episodes of The Diplomat and I'm all in.
