When the musical Cranks were adapted to Danish TV in 1962, the cast and the musical backing was almost identical to the stage production at Mercur Teatret in Copenhagen 1957. Only Preben Uglebjerg was replaced by Bent Christensen. John Cranko also took over the direction from Preben Neergaard. A sound recording of the Danish stage production had been released by Decca Records on LP.
