The Tutor: Painting a Still Life with Terrance Zdunich (2010)

Trivia

The Tutor: Painting a Still Life with Terrance Zdunich

Edit
The Tutor's Gallery, an art installation inspired by the film, was an interactive event. It hosted and displayed the artwork and films made by The Students of The Tutor, hand drawn comic book panels form Terrance Zdunich's series The Molting, a cockroach petting zoo, and a class portrait photo booth. Actors who played characters like "The Principle" and "The Hall Monitor" roamed the audience of the gallery, writing out progress reports and detention slips, sending naughty individuals to do detention in a back room where they were forced to write standards on large black boards while being paddled.
The Tutor: Painting a Still Life with Terrance Zdunich won a 2010 Rondo Horror Award.
The film, a series of tutorials which taught viewers how to make art and get away with more sinister accomplishments, quickly gained a cult following. Once a week, for over three months, viewers, who called themselves "Students of The Tutor", began making art and short films based on lessons they learned from the tutorials.
The Students of The Tutor submitted an extensive amount of art and film to Shem Andre Byron and Terrance Zdunich. The quantity of work was so large it facilitated an art show installation in Hollywood California called "The Tutor's Gallery."
The Subject in the film is dressed to resemble Guilty Susie, a character from Terrance Zdunich's break through, independent comic book series, The Molting.
