Chainsaw Man recently released its first Blu-ray in Japan, and its sales are a terrible sign for season 2. Chainsaw Man’s anime had been massively hyped up even before it was officially announced, and when it finally premiered, it quickly became a big hit for its stellar story, amazing animation from Studio Mappa, and for how effortlessly the anime was able to invoke a cinematic feeling to tie into the series’ influence from Western cinema. The anime was easily one of the biggest hits of the fall 2022 season, if not 2022 as a whole, and when it ended, people were quick to wonder when season 2 would air.
With how much of a success Tatsuki Fujimoto's Chainsaw Man has been, it would be easy enough for season 2 to be all but assured, but it might not be that easy according to Japanese sales data (tweeted out by Chainsaw Man fan @SxFisthebest...

When real estate billionaire Charles S. Cohen was 15, all hell broke loose in Newark, N.J. It was the summer of 1967 and a 12-year-old black child, not much younger than him, was on the cover of Life Magazine bleeding from a police shotgun wound aimed at an older kid who’d been looting beer during a riot. Cohen lived across the bridge in Westchester County, N.Y., close enough for the horror to feel real, so he filmed stills of the magazine, and intercut them with his own story about two boys in a playground, one black, one white, combining their strengths to spin a merry-go-round.
Cohen called his first short “Contrast,” and premiered it at his high school auditorium. His guts roiled with trepidation and pride. He’d done every bit of it from editing to piano score besides act — he’s not much for glory hogging. Ask Cohen,...

Professional wrestling is as much a performance art as it is a sport, with combatants required to inhabit a persona as well as master a series of intricate wrestling moves. As a result, there have been a series of wrestlers over the past few decades that have tried to make the leap into acting. For a long time Hulk Hogan was the only one who could claim, limited, mainstream success with Suburban Commando and Mr Nanny hitting the heights in the early nineties. Since then, sporadic attempts to cross over have been stillborn, until The Rock left the WWE to pursue a full-time acting career nearly ten years ago. He has put in the time, and become the first wrestler to make it as a bona fide movie star.
This success has, inevitably, opened the floodgates. On paper, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin had a pretty good shot at following in The Rock’s footsteps.

Steve Austin is quickly becoming this generation’s Steven Seagal. All of his movies are interchangeable, and if they didn’t have different titles, you’d probably think it was one continuous storyline spliced together by someone who doesn’t really understand how movies operate. Be that as it may, I’ve watched all of Austin’s flicks, including that hideous feel-good family drama “Knockout”. Maybe that’s why my cinematic radar twitched a bit when I saw the trailer for the upcoming direct-to-video actioner “Recoil”, which co-stars Danny Trejo, another actor who isn’t too discriminating when it comes to scripts. That’s no criticism, mind you, as I find Trejo to be endlessly entertaining, even when the movie he stars in is less than spectacular. Here’s a quick, one sentence synopsis: A cop turns vigilante after his family is murdered, exacting vengeance on the killers – and then...

Steve Austin means business in Recoil.
Retired professional wrestler turned movie action hero Steve Austin (The Expendables) stars as a cop who forms his own brand of vigilante justice in the 2011 action film Recoil.
When honorable police officer Ryan Varrett (Austin), returns home to find his entire family murdered, the one-time good guy cop is forced to go rogue – breaking the laws he once swore to uphold – in his quest for justice. The primary targets for Varrett’s guns, knives and fists are a murderous biker gang, a corrupt local police, and a ruthless crime lord named Drayke (Danny Trejo, Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World).
Directed by Terry Miles (A Night For Dying Tigers) and co-starring sexy Serinda Swan (TV’s Breakout Kings), Recoil premieres on DVD.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is "The Terminator." No, really.
According to Deadline, the former Governor, who is making his long-awaited return to the big screen, will revive the legendary franchise that kept his status as a bona fide action star intact throughout the '80s and '90s. While there's no writer yet attached to the project, "Fast Five" director Justin Lin could helm the next installment of the "Terminator" saga, which will -- say it with me -- bring Arnold "baaahk."
Check out the rest of Tuesday's biggest casting news from Hollywood, including additions to "The Hunger Games," as well as a plea from Kristen Bell to appear in the big screen adaptation.
Welcome To District 3
You may not know the names of the District 3 competitors in "The Hunger Games," but now you'll know the names of the actors who will play the youngsters called into the reaping: Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott.

Despite throwing Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson at the problem, Marvel has yet to find real success with a Punisher movie. So, it should come as no surprise that Nasser Group North and Caliber Media Co. are attempting to fill the void with their flick Recoil.
The movie stars "Stone Cold" Steve Austin as an ex-cop whose family is murdered by the mob, and then sets out for vengeance. One might say that he's looking to punish those responsible. Meanwhile, Danny Trejo will play a criminal who has his sights set on Austin's character, and will more than likely call his rival "ese," "cabron" or if we're very lucky, both.
Who else thinks they should put a wig on Austin for this role?
Variety reports that the film will be written by John Sullivan (some horror movies you've never heard of) and directed by Terry Miles (some other...

Remember the Stunning Steve Austin, a Texan pro wrestler in the late-80s. Well, he and La Tortuga Danny Trejo, who spent much of the 1960s in California prisons, are finally mixing their powers for the indie action movie titled just Recoil.
John Sullivan, who wrote the horror Fear of the Dark, penned the script for this actioner directed by Terry Miles, who is currently developing thriller Timelock acquired by Im Global.
Jim Harvey of Studio City Pictures will be at Cannes seeking distribution for Recoil.
Austin, who played Dan Paine in The Expendables will portray an ex-cop who’s life is ripped apart when his family is viciously murdered. He then makes it his life’s passion to find those responsible and serve up his own kind of justice. Trejo portrays a cold-hearted killer who is seeking his own vengeance against the ex-cop over the murder of his brother...

The Tom Hanks company Playtone is putting together Game Change, in which Julianne Moore will play [1] Sarah Palin under the direction of Jay Roach (Austin Powers). The film follows the 2008 Presidential election, and Ed Harris plays [2] John McCain. Now Ron Livingston has been cast as Mark Wallace, senior advisor to the McCain-Palin ticket. In other words, he gets to play the guy who coached Sarah Palin for her debates, and so his scenes with Julianne Moore could be gold. And, no, this movie is not a comedy. At least, I don't think it is. [Deadline [3]] Next up is casting for an action/revenge film called Recoil. These two casting announcements couldn't be more different, but how great would it be to combine them into one film? Anyway, more Recoil news after the break. Recoil sounds like it should be a Sylvester Stallone picture. Instead it will star Steve Austin and Danny Trejo...

Man, Austin loves beating up on 80s action stars, huh? First, he smacks around Stallone in The Expendables. Soon he’ll whup up on Dolph Lundgren in The Package (here). And now, he’s going one-on-one with Machete himself, Danny Trejo in Recoil.
The film is being directed by Terry Miles and written by the Dtv Prophecy sequels scribe, John Sullivan. The plot to this potential bad-ass showdown: “After the murder of his family, former cop John Varrett goes vigilante in order to find the criminals that have slipped through the system and exercise his own brand of ruthless justice.” Guess who plays who.
The film will look for buyers soon at the Cannes Film Market.
