The show is way too long , and at the end the designs are uninspiring and insipid. Also, the woman who the lead designer should take a lesson from the female designers of other shows ( Windy City Rehab, anyone?) and make and effort to understand "numbers' it is not that hard . Will save you trouble in the long run.
Liked the show and then all of a sudden I found myself getting irritable. I stopped doing what I was doing and focused solely on the TV. It was the homeowners responses to their renovation. Way way way over the top! All of them! Definitely being coached. Some even laughing wildly. Laughing? Why would you laugh? Smiling is good but laughing made no sense to me. The husband didn't bother me one way or the other. He's obviously just there to bounce things off. It's just those over directed over the top reactions I can't stomach. The renovations are all pleasing, I didn't see one I didn't like. And the host is good. One more negative is the wallpaper offerings. But obviously that's a very personal like/dislike.
The show is entertaining, but there are a few things that really bother me. The first thing is the lack of researching when doing something they're not used to. The guinea pig is the epitome of that. If anyone had done a 30 min research on the subject, they would understand how terrible for a LIVING BEING that idea really was. Same with the "skate park". The second major problem for me is that in the majority of cases the home owners had a very cluttered space and we never get to see what was done with all those things. Like, of course, wirh the house emptied things look really organized, but how did you solved the real issue? How things will be when they will bring their stuff back ? The third major problem for me is that she seems unable to bring any sort of variety to her projects. She does her house with her taste over and over again. White walls inside, a lot of metal texture sprinkled around, an unecessary wallpaper, tiles and bad art that makes every house look like a boring pinterest board of someone that doesn't understand too much about architecture nor design, but it's a neat freak.
I gave this show a chance I couldn't get past the first episode. So many things wrong. Overall there was nothing exciting or new about the design. White on white, how original. Wasted innovative opportunities given the gigantic budget. Yawn, next.
Kim's voice is very irritating and reminds me time and again why I don't like watching the program. Not the kind of voice one wants to listen to for the duration of the program. I often woner if the producers don't know that that is important to viewers. Kim's personality is very nice, but the way she speaks in her throat, that is very irritating. As for the design of the homes they renovate.... it is nice, but doesn't wow me. Some of the choices they make, are a big NO to me. The interaction between the husband and wife is very sweet and adorable. I understand that people cannot choose their voice, but maybe she can take speech classes to not speak almost like she's gurgling? Fact is, her voice is very off putting for me.
