Now in its 11th year, the New York City Horror Film Festival runs November 14-17, and along with the lineup, they've announced some of the special guests who'll be in attendance this go-round.

Giving a platform to new and independent international horror films, the New York City Horror Film Festival (Nychff) returns for another grand weekend, November 14–17, 2013, on the twin screens of the Tribeca Cinemas at 54 Varick Street, just south of Canal.

Honoring the career of Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, From Beyond, Nevermore), this year's festival is put together by Fangoria’s Tony Timpone and Ronnie Hein, and filmmakers Alan Rowe Kelly and Bart Mastronardi are among the guest presenters.

The 11th Annual New York City Horror Film Festival will be taking place next month and a number of screenings and special events have been announced, including appearances from Stuart Gordon and Lloyd Kaufman:

The Bates Haunting sounds like a bad ass film. Unfortunately its not. There arent enough positives to recommend this picture to anyone. Its a somewhat uninspired effort that took a wealth of promise and flushed it right down the drain. Even functioning on a very insignificant budget The Bates Haunting could have been a potentially awesome film fit to give fans of the vintage what they want and please modern fans just as much. That simply did not happen.

Uncork’d Entertainment will distribute Byron Turk’s The Bates Haunting, on VOD August 6th. Described as "Scream meets Scooby-Doo," the indie thriller is one of those films that uses a haunted attraction as a backdrop for its tale and was shot in rural Pennsylvania, at Arasapha Farm’s original Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride: One of America’s top Halloween attractions.

The story? Agnes Rickover visited the Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride looking for some Halloween fear and fun. Instead, she witnessed a tragedy: The fiery death of her best friend Lily making her dramatic debut on the Hayride.

The Bates Haunting is a horror film set in an amusement park. Except, the haunted attractions in this locale are stalked by a killer. Uncork'd Entertainment will release this title through video-on-demand platforms this August. To flesh out the story, Agnes (Jean Louise O'Sullivan) watches her friend die, horrifically, in a strange accident. A murder investigation reveals nothing. And, Agnes sets out to uncover what led to her friend's mysterious death. She finds other friends and coworkers succumbing to similar fates. But, who is behind all of these accidents? It's been a few months since we've gotten an update on Byron Turk's Welcome to the Bates Motel, but it is currently in post and the filmmakers have released a behind-the-scenes "making of" video that sheds some light on the process of filming a movie at the world famous Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania.

The film, which is produced/directed by Byron Turk and written by J. L. Stremberg, stars Jean-Louise O'Sullivan, Zachary Fletcher, Cosimo Mariano, Ryan Dunn, and Randy Bates.

Synopsis:

The Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride is one of the scariest haunts in the world. When a mysterious death occurs at the park, Agnes Rickover starts a personal investigation to prove the accident was really a murder. Despite being dismissed as crazy by her father, Agnes must uncover and stop a deadly plot before the Haunt claims any more victims.
