I don't watch many Indo horror film and it was pretty damn scary to me. It was basic and slow at start but it picked it pace quickly.

The fighting scenes were really on a different level. The sudden random martial art reminded me of IP man or any other martial art movie (lol) but in a very good way of course.

Loved the acting, place and the thrill it brought. One thing I specially loved was the relevance in islamic context. The reality of possession and how to deal with such being was very spot on.

There were times I had goosebumps. I enjoyed the story. Even though I loved the movie, the ending was very basic .

BUT REST ASSURED, THIS MOVIE WILL DEFINITELY GIVE YOU THE HORROR YOU WANT. (you can watch it with family)

If you're tired of the same old Indonesian horror filled with jump scares and ghost sightings, this film is a breath of fresh air. Those giving it low ratings are probably fans of lighter horror like horror comedies or rely too much on ghost sightings. But horror can come in many forms-including action horror-and this film proves it. Think Constantine, Dracula, or Hollywood-style zombie flicks: full of actions, intense, and entertaining.

The main character's background isn't fully explained, but not every story needs to start from zero and wrap up every detail. In fact, the mystery has potential to make another movie, and it turns out this film already has a sequel-so the unanswered questions can be explained later.

The storyline also feels more logical. For example, when a death occurs, there are legal consequences like imprisonment.

Possession scenes are handled thoughtfully, too. No need for dramatic ghost appearances-just the idea of a jinn (an invisible being) taking over a body is already disturbing. No need ghost visuals that ruin the tension.

In short, if you're looking for a horror film that's not typical, give this one a shot. It may not be perfect, but it's bold enough to break the formula-and that alone is worth watching.

Qodrat (2022) is an Indonesian horror film that masterfully blends exorcism with strong religious elements. Bastian delivers an outstanding performance as a cleric who must confront an evil force terrorizing a village.

The main character is well-developed, allowing the audience to connect with his struggles. The exorcism scenes are executed effectively, building suspense without relying too heavily on jump scares.

The film also excels in visual effects and makeup, making the supernatural elements feel more realistic. The eerie background score enhances the tension throughout the movie.

However, Qodrat has a few weaknesses, such as some predictable horror tropes. Despite this, the film remains engaging, offering a unique experience with its religious undertones.

With strong performances, compelling cinematography, and effective horror elements, Qodrat earns a solid 8/10, cementing its place as a high-quality Indonesian horror film.

Indonesia do too much horror movie, until we know already what will happen next. The different that Qodrat offer is the fighting scene, out of nowhere suddenly Qodrat perform martial art like what you saw in The Raid Redemption or Night Come For Us. Other than that, it is all regular possessed scene, countless jumpscare and everything you ever know from indonesian horror. All the cast did their best, especially the actress. The cinematography is beautiful, some remote hometown at seaside. There is till 100 word to fill, who come up with this required characters, I have no idea what to write, oh yeah, this movie is quite scary, even though its cliche, its still scary. Enjoy.

I caught this on a whim on Amazon and was pleasantly surprised. There's a fair amount going on here. Moral quandary, the clergy and power, all done in a very space yet entertaining. The jump scares are reasonably well done, there's some solid CGI and the addition of martial arts that comes here and there a bit out of nowhere was, to be honest, kinda cool. Not second rate stuff, either.

I've seen some remarks about accuracy to the Islamic faith and - seriously? It's an exorcism movie. As a theologian I'd love to sit down with you and your favourite Christian exorcism movie and I'll have some notes. You will have to wait for me to stop laughing, however.

It gives a stark, grim, taut view of the path of an exorcist and the corruption of faith. If you like horror flicks and possession movies in particular I can safely recommend this really interesting example of Indonesian Horror films.
