I was on this project

The other reviews here claim the video of the ship was cgi. That is false. That is real footage. That is what underwater camera footage over 2 miles deep looks like. Video footage is transmitted over 3 miles of cable and the camera housing needs to be robust enough to withstand the pressure of water at those depths, therefore footage quality is slightly compromised but it's still great footage and surprisingly high quality considering the environment. I'm really not sure what the 2 reviewers prior to mine were expecting from the footage. Drama is lacking in this documentary because we were there to work and achieve a goal of finding the hardest to reach shipwreck known to man. The filming of this was secondary to our team.

Waste of time

The original expedtion featured in this was 1 1/2 hours of showing how the equipment broke down or temporarily lost. In the end they never found the ship. The last 30 seconds or so they announced another team came back 3 years later and they found the ship. It ended withe a 10 second picture of the ship which looked like a bad cgi image.

This History Channel special is mostly a re-run of the "History's Greatest Mysteries" series installment 1.3 "Endurance: The Hunt for Shackleton's Ice Ship" which aired 28 Nov 2020. An extra 6 minutes were added at the end to announce the finding of the Endurance on March 9, 2022.
