I didn't have great expectations for this when I went to see this four days after a fully booked premiere night, but I'm afraid to said that not even the least of expectations turned out to be anything less than too big.
This won't be a very good review, but there is some good things to say. The initiative is good and Pett himself has a sense of charm as an actor. You sense that he really loves this. The other actors are doing OK as well, though the best actor of them all is the psychic German lady. There's also some occasional good photographing every 30 minutes in the film. But only for some seconds. And the poster is fairly good. Good enough to fool someone into buying the ticket or the DVD when released. But that's about it. This is a movie which never ever should have been released for the cinema, without more work put into it, and most surely with a better actor's instructor (director).
Its obviously extreme low budget, and there hasn't been much care taken into the development of the finished product either. The film was shot in a 10 day period in Fredrikstad, Norway and in France. The budget is according to the film maker 600.000 NOK. I really don't like to trash someone's dream, but there's most certainly people who hasn't got the talent to make film without some severe help from professionals.
Debuting Andy Pett both directs and plays the main role, a combination which almost every time turns up awful. This might be a bottom for the Guiness Book of records. Pett tries, but is the worst of the actors, which all are (or at least seems like) amateurs. The plot is probably OK, but the story lacks any suspense. The film is boring, and without any pace and rhythm. The effects are not good. It's also full of incoherent mistakes. The sound is not very good either. But that's actually a good thing, since you then don't have to listen to all the dialog. Still this production has given Andy Pett a lust for more film making.
Next time Pett, if there ever will be a second chance, please get some help in some of the jobs. Decide which role you'll have in the production. Preferably not directing. I understand this is made with the love for film, but that doesn't mean this is easy to succeed in.
I wish I could give a better grade for this, but hereby you're all warned. Without doubt the worst Norwegian film I ever saw.
