After consulting movie critics reviews and some other posts in the Internet, I give "Perras" the benefit of the doubt and while I cannot say it is a masterpiece, for me it worked.
While the plot has been used in several movies, and some movie goers might say the the sexual innuendo and language is excessive, I consider these two elements as crucial as the Director story-telling style of today's youth.
A group of young girls are being detained in a classroom until investigation of something horrible that had happened in their school.
At the same time, they start trying to figure out which of them was to blame for such atrocity.
From that starting point, the movie take you to understand the motives and dreams of each girl.
Probably the best part of the movie is the individual presentation of each of the girls and while the movie only present a glimpse of their lives (and in some cases, the reasons why they are like they are), the Director did a good job.
Yes , it is Mexican cinema, NO, it is not better (or worse) than others past Mexican productions, but being honest, even if you are not a parent, I recommend this movie if not for the morale message, for its credit to present a good history in an entertaining display of dramatic scenes, and decent performances of a group of young girls.
