According to Brad Jones, he got the idea for the Cinema Snob from Roger Ebert's review of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984).
The first 59 episodes were recorded in 2007 to 2008 and posted onto Brad Jones's YouTube account. When the videos were removed for legal reasons in 2009, Jones started his own website, thecinemasnob.com, with help from Jillian Zurawski and Jerrid Foiles, which became the home of all of his shows, such as this one, The Big Box (2009), Brad Tries... (2010), and Kung Tai Ted (2009), among others.
Brad Jones had earlier established a cut-off date for all movies he reviewed as the Cinema Snob to be no later than 1995, with sequels and remakes made after that year being the exception. However, starting in 2015, Jones did away with the cut-off date and began reviewing more recent movies, in addition to older ones.
