    Hauntingly Beautiful

Corridors is a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The cinematography, the score, and the whole mood of the film gives you this nonstop feeling of dread and impending doom as you watch it. It is a game changer to horror and I want to see more horror movies like this.

The lead actress, Moriah Sittner, does an amazing job portraying a realistic portrayal of what it is like to be scared and she steals the show with her acting through her body language of fear and anxiety as she experiences the horrors in the movie.

The cinematography is gorgeous! The angles and effects give you a surreal meets horror feeling to where it feels as if you are in a beautiful nightmare that you are in but you can't escape it.

The score is very unsettling and so phenomenal that I have no words to describe how beautiful it is...

Please checkout this movie if you want a beautiful and horrifying experience.

    Atmospheric

I thought this was really cool! You don't get much trippy horror pictures these days. This one hits different and gives a vibe that makes it atmospheric. The camera work slaps, that dark vignette style transfers you to a nightmare in darkness, and the music is creepy. This is not your typical slasher horror or paranormal scary movie because this one has a different style and mood to it. I don't want to call it more art house per se, but it fits into that category of art house. The pacing is a little slow at first, but it works for the middle and ending of the movie. I got to watch this through a friend who works at a festival.

    An auspicious debut

Corridors was a very interesting viewing for me. I spent a lot of time thinking about the visual story telling and what the influences might be. I may be overthinking it, Corridors manages to pay loving homage to the classic black and white supernatural films of the past visually while still attempting to tell a modern story. I think there is more than a hint of Jacques Tourneur's DNA in this film. The film's biggest strengths are the cinematography and the mood, which is an area in which Tourneur really stood tall. It is really looks quite good despite its low budget and student origins. The whole thing looks professional and the cast is very good.

Where I feel the film falters a bit is in the pacing, and it is a bit exposition heavy. I see what he is trying to do here. The film is clearly meant to be a slow burn and reminds me of gothic European horror from the 50s and early 60s in the way it tries to unnerve the audience and build a sense of dread. It is nice to see a film lean into that, because modern Hollywood horror seems to be going for jump scares more than mood. Corridors is definitely much more A24 than Blumhouse.

Again, as a debut film, it is very strong. The visuals are quite striking. With a bit more attention to pacing and scripting and sound design, I can easily see Dane jumping to bigger budget films, and bringing a sense of style which is inspired by the past and yet being new. This film may not stand with the giants of horror, but it is a valiant try with far more strengths than weaknesses. It shows a lot of promise and is definitely worth a look for anyone who enjoys atmospheric horror movies. I think when the book is finally written on Dane Peplinski, the film will be studied and remembered as an important formative work that pointed towards even better films to come. This is the kind of film I'd rather endorse and support than 80% of the horror films coming out right now.

    Something fresh and Something re-continued!

Saw this advertised and thought it looked cool from the poster, hence I had never heard of this movie before. The visuals are astounding and got themselves a nightmarish feel, like you are having a calm, but creepy nightmare while taking wal mart brand melatonin.

Just a reminder that this is not the usual modern day horror flick with jump scares and gore. It's a slow burn horror like films from David Lynch, Alfred Hitchcock, and Robert Eggers. It just is one of those movies that doesn't make you jump out of your seat and scream, but instead it gives you that feeling like you are about to either die in your nightmare or wake up from it alive. Corridors brings a psychological unease that builds up overtime and then collides together in a waking moment. It is a shorter feature film that gets to the point and doesn't take two hours to tell a whole story.

We need more horror movies with a nightmarish surreal aesthetic with dope visuals.

    Masterpiece!

For a low budget indie film, this is very very well done! The directing is very great! Dane Alexander Peplinski knows how to make a horror picture that gives you an eerie and unsettling feeling throughout the film. I watched this without even seeing a trailer and I was amazed by it! This movie is horrifying but also visually stunning! The characters are top tier and creative that they make you wonder more about them. The runtime is solid, the sound design is very spooky, and the cinematography is divine! The picture has a surreal horror meets meets 1920s/1930s horror. I will watch it again this weekend.

    • Trivia
While writing the screenplay for Corridors, Dane Alexander Peplinski would sit in the hallways, sit on the staircases, and hang out on the roof of the apartment the movie was filmed at to get inspiration for the movie. He claimed it was an ambient experience to stare in the distance when thinking of ideas for the screenplay because he could feel the history of the building rush through him during the times he spent in the hallways.
