Pinecone & Pony

I started watching this show as a fan of Kate Beaton (the author of the source material) and it is so much fun!

Pinecone and her trusty (round) steed Pony are part of a training group for young warrior and (as you can surely guess) along the way she learns that being a warrior sometimes means being a good friend/ a thoughtful person/ sharing your feelings ect.

The cast is identity diverse and it's never brought up as a thing; It just is. The main adult characters are all involved, caring figures committed to helping the kids grow into better people, be it a warrior, wizard, or whatever. The children are treated as full fledged people with valid thoughts and feelings that are worthy of respect. Which I find is a refreshing change from how children tend to be portrayed.

As far as the plot goes, children will have tons of fun watching the adorable characters go on everyday adventures. It's mostly plot arch free so you can watch when or where ever in the series you like!

It does the book justice, which is seriously saying something. My child adores it and so do My wife and I.

The characters are fun and easy to fall in love with.

You never know with streamers these days, the tend to drop content without much of a fanfare and that's how I came upon this show on AppleTV+. Always looking for content for my 6-year old that is for his age, still engaging and most importantly positive - this show checks all the boxes. He was enthralled, and sings the theme song all the time now. Thanks Apple and Dreamworks for putting out something in the world that is encouraging kids to love one another and find the little warrior within. Highly recommended.

My 5 year old daughter loved Pinecone & Pony but the best part is that I really enjoyed it to. Great messaging but in a funny, smart tone. A nice reprieve from other cartoons that I am cannot enjoy.

It's a great combination of classic storytelling and unexpected characters. They do a nice job of avoiding stereotypes without coming off like it's trying to hard to teach a lesson.
