FAQ

It is never explained in the film. However, the most probable explanation is that the housekeeping staff were under instructions from the pilot's union representatives to clear all the alcohol from the mini-bar in Whip's room and place it into the room next door for safekeeping, but forgot to lock the interconnecting door afterward.

After leaving his ex wife's house, Whip needed a place to go to avoid the media. He goes to Charlie's house and asks if he can stay there til the hearing. Nine days later, Charlie and Whip show up at the hotel where the hearing is being held. Before Charlie leaves Whip's hotel room the night before the hearing, Whip thanks Charlie for letting him stay at his house.

During the film's ending, we see pictures of her on the wall in Whip's cell. Although the camera focuses on the last one (the one he took on his porch), you can see that the others were taken to jail when she came to visit him, along with his ex-wife and son. She's wearing civilian clothing, appearing to be clean and healthy.

James Badge Dale, credited as "Gaunt Young Man".

He couldn't foresee the flight crashing nor could he have predicted that the turbulence was going to be so severe that beverage service was going to be stopped. He was only able to make the decision about the service once the turbulence became what he called "severe." Therefore, if there was no crash and no severe turbulence, it would seem that the vodka was purchased by someone on the plane. Whip probably also thought that if the flight had landed safely, he could go back to the trash a retrieve the bottles himself after everyone had cleared out of the plane.
