The film was based on 2008 Korean film the Chaser inspired by by real-life Korean serial killer Yoo Young-Chu,another story is quite similar to this the story of Peter Sutcliffe a serial killer who killed prostitutes between 1975 t0 1980 in London saying it was the message of God.
Yana Gupta's song Aa Zara was not shown in television promos as it was not suitable for under 18.Song with Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandes was shot for promos.
Sadashiv Amrapurkar was offered to play a cameo as an eunuch who is also a powerful politician by Mahesh Bhatt,Sadshiv Amrapurkar wanted his character to be as strong as Maharani in Sadak 1991 hence declined it and the part went to Sandip Sickand.

Then Mohit Suri offered the leading role to Asin Thottumkal but, she thought the role of leading lady is not so powerful so she also refused to do this role.
