    Magical

Absolutely loved the wide variety that Rabbit Ears Productions' "We All Have Tales" series had of stories and folk tales from all around the world, countries ranging from Russia and Africa, France and Japan and Germany and Ireland to name a few. All the adaptations are well worth watching and the best of them are musts and among the best Rabbit Ears Productions adaptations, my personal favourites of the series being 'Peachboy' and 'The Fool and the Flying Ship' (which are two of the company's finest).

'The White Cat' is absolutely magical and another must see. There is a slight preference for those two adaptations and for 'East of the Sun, West of the Moon', but 'The White Cat' is on their level of wonderful in its own way. The original French fairytale is a beautiful one and one that is not read or heard enough in literature, Rabbit Ears Productions' adaptation does incredibly well at adapting it faithfully while also making it accessible for younger viewers.

Everything is done beautifully. It is beautiful visually, with the very (at times) Beatrix Potter like backgrounds being particularly note-worthy. As well as the alluring character design of the White Cat. Colours are vibrant yet atmospheric and transitions are seamless. It is very effectively scored, with great use of pizzicato strings when in the forest and with lovingly tender scoring in the interaction between the prince and the white cat.

Have always liked Emma Thompson as an actress, and her voice has a very dreamy, sympathetic quality that reminded me of her "Sigh No More" speech delivery at the beginning of 'Much Ado About Nothing'. She is especially good in the scenes between the prince and the white cat. The writing is always sincere and does really well at being easy to understand for younger viewers while having enough maturity for adults.

Loved the storytelling, it is a haunting and poignant story and is adapted exactly like that. The good versus evil theme is not a new theme in fairytales, but never felt old. There are no issues understanding the story, which has a lot going on without being over-stuffed or too complex and it is hard to not be touched by the ending or the tender chemistry between the prince and the white cat. Who are both very likeable and rootable characters, especially the latter.

    Concluding, absolutely magical. 10/10.
