During ancient Hawaii's warring kingdoms era, chief Ka'iana journeys abroad to understand the foreign invaders threatening his homeland. He returns to lead a violent campaign to unite the four rival kingdoms, hoping to protect them.

Terrified, Ka'iana and family escape O'ahu when someone offers them safe passage.

Ka'iana arrives in a strange land. Ka'ahumanu takes her place beside Kamehameha.
