Hosts Promise Neutral Opinions Going In. That's Now How Atheists Do Things

1st, for this idea to be true, one wouldn't even be able to discriminately choose which program/service to utilize or investigate.

And right off the bat they're making fun and/or doubting of the validity of the thing they're investigating.

Again, I'd like to say they've repeatedly claimed to go into all these experiences with an open mind. But clearly they don't.

Being an atheist myself, I know sure as Hades I'd be disbelieving of almost every single thing they're investigating.

I'm listening to the 2022 Fun Drive episode right now as I type this. One thing that boils my blood is they're using call-outs to all anglo names. Let's get some diversity here, people.

Anyway, I had a beef with R&C b/c at one time, on their FB page, I typed that I hadn't recalled ever hearing any anti-Semitic rhetoric on a certain topic (which I is true. Of course, memory's a fickle thing) and got blasted for it.

Some whackadoo on there started some nonsense about repressed memory (which has been fully debunked by most shrinkologists, and even the ones who still believe in the bunk think repression is rare) and someone started some nonsense about restless leg syndrome (which now is just a diagnosis of symptoms, not cause, which leads to overmedication for what usually is either sciatica issues which can be treated with exercise or simply a change to a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet which will clear out the arteries) and then the pile-on continued.

So I bowed out of the convo, blocked the R&C FB page and never contributed to their podcast again.

I even put a little post on our local community bulletin board for the podcast prior, but took it off since then.

I've listened to only 1 or 2 episodes since. I'll be honest, the topics were getting a little stale. I wish they'd pick a little more interesting things to delve into.

And why aren't they picking on specific Christian denominations (which are just as incredulous as psychics and Christian Science)? Interview pastors and ask tough questions or go to specific churches for about 6 months each.

A really good thing to delve into (which I myself have done) is go to various churches, talk to various parishoners, and read various books on specfic denominations to see what their ideological differences are.

And also talk about how different the services, practice, and presentable actions are for each.

One thing I noticed that the Baptists do that I've never seen any other denomination do is the altar call. Also, Baptist are against wearing crucifix. Also, Baptists, as far as I know, are the only denomination that believe in eternal security. And I believe they're one of the few denominations that practices closed communion.

The Lutherans have the eternal light burning in their church. I can't remember what it's called, but I don't think any other denomination practices that.

I could go on, but you get the point.

I hope R&C read this so they can do a better job.

I'm adding this later cuz I just remember this: They seem to not understand that the medical 'professionals' are limited in scope of their training AND they're under pressure to pay bills.

This is an issue for 2 reasons: As much as they like to say that these holistic or alternative docs are quacks because they haven't been trained in certain fields, they will more likely trust a cardio doc who tells a woman she might have cervical cancer (?!)

And second: Docs overprescribe, overtreat and oversurgery people liek crazy so they can keep their office lights on and the staff paid.

There's a huge issue with women being overly castrated simply because the docs make more money off ripping out women's uteri than, say, a pessary or a tubal ligation or a uterine scraping (depending on what your issue is).

But these 2 hosts are seeming to place far too much faith in a for-profit system while condemning other for-profit systems, saying there's money to be made in getting people to believe this stuff works and it's the best option.

Again, this shows a bias going into all this. And there is a real serious problem with overtreating/analyzing/prescribing to patients. It not only can greatly demoralize one's own life, but it increases the cost of insurance for others. I know this. I went 18 years without health insurance because I couldn't afford the premiums.

Then when I got health insurance, my doc wanted to castrate me because I have organ prolapse!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I know I went on a tirade here. But I just wanted to point out how dangerous this one-sided, blindness-to-the-truth attitude is causing more harm than good.

Sadly, as much as R&C are being blinded from the truth, there are followers of them who are also just as blind, believing everything these 2 proport.

OK, I'm reviewing as I go along. I haven't listened to an episode in weeks or months. I've only listened to 1 or 2 that seemed interesting to me after I had blocked them on FB.

Another bias they have (really, it's a hypocritical blindspot) is that they are pointing out the upsell that these 'quacks' (and they've already assumed he's a quack, regardless their claim of going in with an open mind) do while completely ignoring that regular old licensed docs do the same thing all the time.

My GYN upsold me on the stand-up mammogram, even though the regular old-fashioned mam usually does the same job with the same results. I found this out later when they told me my body fat or tissue or whatever was too thick to get an accurate read. So, GET THIS, it's now recommended I go get this mammogram MORE OFTEN to make sure the docs aren't missing anything!!!!!!!!!! Talk about an upsell for quackery.

And the same GYN signed me up for an MRI or some sort of xray or something because my neck glands were inflamed. She claimed that there's a very slight chance that I had goiter. She said this even after I told her my glands inflame every fall season. I told her I think it's allergies. I also told her it didn't bother me.

Needless to say, I went from having no insurance to having superb insurance. And boy are the docs trying to take advantage. They wouldn't touch me with a 10-foot poker before, but now they want to coddle me for the bucks. How insulting!

Why don't R&C talk about that aspect of the 'legit' medical field?

There's much quackery disguised as truth, but R&C pick the low-hanging fruit to pick on and condescend to those who question how legit the 'real' docs are.

NOT DONE YET: One thing that grates my nerves to no end is Ross' ego and mansplaining. And his half-informed educating of Carrie and the audience. He's just so white male.
